Performance Autosport Mustang RTR NASA American Iron - Spring Rumble Sunday Race
The Performance Autosport Mustang RTR Road Race crew packed up and headed to Summit Point for Round 3 of the NASA Mid-Atlantic American Iron Race Series on April 28-29th 2012. This was the first time racing at Summit Point in 2012 and we were still making lots of suspension changes throughout the weekend to try and get the car to do what driver, Chris Cobetto, wanted it to do.
Please enjoy 3 different angles, the Splitter Cam (which takes a BEATING!), the Trunk Cam (which I need to change to the closed case to reduce wind noise next time) and the Cobetto Cam (which shows the man behind the wheel doing what he does best).
This was Sunday's race which had EXCELLENT weather start to finish. We qualified and started 1st, led every lap and finished 1st. The race was cut short as you will see by a very bad crash on the front straight by fellow American Iron competitor Ed Hunter (the flat black Foxbody that is chasing Cobetto the entire video). Thankfully he was completely ok, but the car is totaled. The race was red flagged and everyone's current positions were their finishing positions.

1990 R9G Corvette racing at Watkins Glen in-car camera
NASA race at Watkins Glen, NY on 10.13.07 in car camera. The vehicle driving was a 1990 R9G Corvette originally created by Tommy Morrison & was the championship car back in the day. Unfortunately the car kissed the wall because the brake bias was cranked to much to the rear brakes. There was a Porsche turbo, BMW M3 and more in this video @ the Glen. Enjoy...

More HPDE at Road Atlanta. I thought I would try following the gray Honda S2000. Street tires and a greasy track made for some entertaining moments (see 2:24 and 2:41) and the honda gets away. I need sticky tires. (data by RaceChrono)

NASA Florida Sprint Race 2 @ HMS, March 2011, #350 PTA 350Z
Some video from the Sunday Thunder sprint race with NASA FL. Qualified second overall, 1st in class in a 15 car field. The pole car on my left was a IMSA Lite prototype. On the start, something fell into his lap distracting him as the green flag came out. I got a 3 - 4 car lengths on the field through the first few turns. With our brake problems fixed, I had more confidence in the car and was able to check out on the in class competition. At the half way point, I went into cruise mode until the checker. Best lap of the race was a 1:38.8, in the second lap.
