Painting the 1967 Fastback restomod
We're doing an initial "final" coat ... so we can get everything lined up, find the nitty gritty details before we put in all the mechanical. Once we have the suspension and tires on, we're putting in the drive train -- then electrical -- the finally back for a final "final" coat to take care of all the damage we did during assembly
67 Eleanore getting last minute touch up
After the first coat the yellow was looking very transparent, but it was good enough to catch all the lines that were off -- so we went to work. The goal was to keep the natural lines of the classic, despite the fact that we had to lift the hood scoop so high to clear the breather. We worked on symmetry and getting the spacing on all joints to line up and space up evenly. The body is done now -- we're reshooting the visible parts of the interior next -- the engine compartment is now done and ready for finishing. Starting to block off for final color.
Bumble bee is back for a facelift
After 8 months at the mechanic's shop we're back for final paint. We did an initial coat to do the inside and underside and to test the body lines--then a second coat after adjusting the fiberglass -- then the mechanic. Now we're back for final fitting and we spotted a number of details. We assembled the entire body a total of four times so far. Once the issues are fixed --we'll disassemble one last time.
Bumble bee's first steps
Wouldn't you know it -- there are at least 3 different firing orders for the 351. After finding the right one for an HO version, a new custom Exhaust with Flowmasters -- it's back to tweak the tranny, steering, brakes and fuel prior to running it back for the nth coat of paint ... Final for sure this time.
