Fix Plastic Bumper Damage: Complete Kit
In this video you will learn how to take bumper damage like this, and make
it look like this, using the BumperWizard bumper repair kit.
Apply masking tape to adjacent panels and plastic trim that could be
sprayed with paint.
Wrap your scuff pad in coarse sandpaper, and sand the bumper with firm
Wipe away dust and clean the entire panel with wax and grease remover.
You might find that some of the scratches won't sand out. You'll want to
apply a thin layer of scratch-filling putty with the supplied plastic
Again, wrap sandpaper around your grey scuff pad and sand with firm
Sometimes you'll find that a second application of putty is needed.
Next take your scuff pad, and scuff a minimum of ten inches in every
direction from the repair area. This is very important, and ensures that
the paint you apply is going to permanently stick and be durable over time.
Be sure to apply newspaper or butcher paper over any areas that could
possibly sprayed with overspray from your paint cans.
Now shake your primer can for about 60 seconds and apply one thin layer.
Now apply a heavy layer of primer, until you've just about covered all the
bare black plastic exposed after you sanded out the scratches in your
With light pressure, sand your primer until it feels smooth, using your
Shake your jar of paint for about 30 seconds and insert the spray unit. Now
apply a thin layer of your paint.
I found that the paint was going with some bumps, and I could see some
cloudiness and some cat scratches in there. I didn't quite have a flat
surface to work with, it was a little premature spraying the paint on
I waited 5 minutes for this to harden, and I took out my fine sandpaper and
knocked down any scratches or any roughness that was in the surface.
I found that with my second application of paint it was really looking
quite good. Real thin coats, about 10-12 inches away.
If you have a silver or gold car, you might see some stripes in there, so
what you want to do is follow up with some vertical passes.
Now when I take a closer look I don't see the cloudiness, I don't see any
fine scratching. You might see some bumps, but that's okay. You'll have to
look very close when the repair is done to see those bumps. From a normal
distance you won't notice them.
So we wait 5 minutes and we shake up our clearcoat can for about 60
seconds, and nd we'll put on one light coat of clearcoat.
And now we'll follow up with a fairly heavy coat. You'll notice how much
slower I move from left to right, making sure to overlap about 50% with
Within 10 minutes pull your paper, pull your tape, and you have a virtually
new bumper. You can wash the car, wax the car, it is permanent.
Mask panels and trim around the repair area.
Sand with coarse sandpaper using firm pressure.
Wipe away dust and clean with wax and grease remover.
Fill scratches with supplied putty and spreader.
Scuff area with grey pad.
Apply a thin layer of primer.
Wait 2 minutes, then apply a heavy layer of primer.
Sand primer until it feels smooth using fine-grit sandpaper.
Apply thin layer of factory-matched paint.
Wait 5 minutes, then apply a light layer of clear coat.
Wait another 5 minutes, then apply a heavier layer of clear coat.
This kit and process can be replicated on any plastic bumper.

The reason for this video is fuel for my hatred for the import community.
He had a big vinyl banner in back of window that says "GOD CREATED turbo LAG TO GIVE V8'S A CHANCE". You tell me,
who started this one...
Also, in the video I raced a gal on a Yamaha R6. She had a terrible 60'
but caught me in the end of course.
