1965 Mustang 2+2 Fastback Restoration (oct.13 1964)
Restoration of Jody's first car. He bought it when he was 14 from the original owner. We restored it to original except the side mirrors and shift knob which the car had when he bought it all those years ago. This is an A code, 289 4 barrel, 4spd, Disc brake, A.C. from the factory, a GT package before they called it a GT. Built Oct 13 1964, fastbacks did not start production until Sept 64.

65 Mustang Fastback Restoration Project
This is my 1965 Mustang Fastback I rescued from a field rusting away. I finished it around July of 2008 in my back yard garage with no professional assistance at all. It took me about 26 months to complete. It has a 302 Ford motor and an 5 Speed manual transmission. I restored this car to the information on the original data plate on the door that included the body color and interior. The stripe is unique in that I added a darker red to the Poppy Red body color to get a stripe that is a little darker but blends in with the factory color. This car features four wheel disc brakes made from all Ford parts.

This Arizona car was originally a six cylinder with four lug wheels, until it was purchased by three friends who brought it up to Michigan and restored it. The three year frame off restoration was just recently completed, and everything is new or refurbished. It now has a brand new crate 289, five lug wheels and a brand new Roush paint job. We are frequently asked if a car is roadworthy and checked out...I don't think there's any doubt about this one! Check out the flawless paint on this Pony! That's 2011 Roush deep blue with three levels of metallic flakes. The white stripes were just added, and clear coated over. The paint is just stunning. The driving lights grille, chrome bumpers on both ends and spoiler are clean, as are the badges and trim pieces. Magnum 500 wheels and BF Goodrich Radial T/A's (2-05-60-15 front, 2-55-60-15 rear) sit at all four corners. The car's a heap of fun to admire, but get behind the wheel for what really counts! Look underneath, where a lot of time and money were spent. Bolted to the 289 is a C4 automatic transmission, a solid driveshaft and a bulletproof, open Ford 8" rear end. You'll find new bushings in front and out back. The frame is solid, rust free and painted in a nice coat of flat black paint. Exhaust gases flow into the dual aluminized Exhaust system with new mufflers and chrome Exhaust tips. Out back there is a new gas tank, new shocks and rebuilt springs. The drop down panels and rockers are solid and rust free. The pinch welds are clean and stamped part numbers are visible. The floorboards are painted in a beautiful coat of flat black paint, and aside from one superbly done small patch on the driver side, they are without flaw. Both front and rear drum brakes have fresh brake lines and new wheel cylinders. Nothing flashy, nothing silly...just well engineered, quality components are under here! Pop the hood -- a ton of time and care went in here, too. You'll find a brand new, beautifully painted Ford Blue, 289 crate motor with a Motorcraft 2 barrel carb with a choke and factory intake. The chrome air cleaner and valve covers are from Ford Motorsport. The radiator is new, and the starter and alternator have been freshly rebuilt. The master cylinder is new and the solenoid is new. Everything from the hood hinges and the underside of the hood, to the shock towers and core support has a very nice paint job. You can even see the numbers stamped on the inner fenders. The combination runs well, and it looks great, too! Inside, you'll find a comfortable place to spend some decent miles. You're holding on to a very cool, new wood and polished aluminum steering wheel and staring over a new dash with new gauges. New carpet and a new headliner surround you, and a rare bench seat with fold down armrest and new seat covers sit underneath you. This is one comfortable and clean Pony! An AM/FM cassette player is responsible for the tunes. Ready for a road trip? We just had a 442 very similar to this: Black, built drivetrain, clean cosmetics and a no-nonsense, drive anywhere demeanor. It lasted a whole FOUR DAYS before it found a new home. Me and my dad see my dad's old car for the first time in 20 years.
He sold the car over 20+ years ago when he was an alcoholic. Said he probably would have died in it. This is the first time he saw it since he sold it over 20+ years ago. The car does look in relative good shape, we have no idea what has been done with the car over the past 20 years. It obviously wasn't sitting there for 20 years and nobody claims it to be. How To Detail Wash Clay Bar Buff Degrease Car Restoration ~ Restore Paint Engine Auto Detailing Video http://www.1OwnerCarGuy.com This is a combined video of the complete exterior detail process we did on this 1972 Buick Centurion Convertible. First we start with giving the car a good wash to get all the years of of crap off of it. Then we go ahead and degrease the engine and get it all power washed down. Also degreasing the tires and wheel wells and scubbing them and hitting them with the pressure washer. Then the next step is to clay bar that car to give it a nice smooth surface on the paint. The claying is a very easy process you just have to make sure to keep the paint wet while you are doing it. When you are done with the clay bar you need to wash the car and give it a good scrubbing. Once the car is dry you can start the buffing process. On a car like this we like to do a two stage process. The first stage we use a more gritty compound and a wool pad on a buffer. This takes all the oxidization off of the top surface and brings the true color back out in the paint. We then use a smoother wax compound and a foam pad to really give the paint a wet look. You can see the difference at the end by how big of a difference this makes. It really doesn't take that long and can make all the difference in the world.
