WCCC Open House / Cruise / BBQ / Great Oregon Steam-Up 2011
Every year in August we have an open house at West Coast Classic Cougar. We are based just outside of Salem, Oregon, and have a wrecking yard full of 67-73 Cougars, and a warehouse full of new and used Cougar parts.
It's a two-day event that usually takes place on a Friday and Saturday. On Friday, we have our open house and a small car show. Then in the evening, we cruise over to Silverton for a barbecue at our friend Brian's place in the middle of open farmland. Finally, on Saturday, we attend the Great Oregon Steam-Up at Antique Powerland, located close by our shop in Brooks. This year we had a reserved space for Cougars. There is an endless amount of cool antique machinery to see at this show.
If this event sounds like fun to you, hop in your Cougar and we'll see you next year!

1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 - Mellow Yellow?? - NOT! - HEAR ME ROAR! TOO LATE--I'M GONE!
Here is a super nice 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 with less than 119K miles. This car has always been an Oregon car. We believe it is also a numbers matching car and once verified, we will change this ad to reflect that fact.
It still has the original 289 two-barrel, but now has an Edelbrock Performer intake and Holley 4 barrel and the stock manifolds have new dual Exhaust with glass packs and H-pipe. The interior is in quite good shape including the carpets, headliner, dash and door panels. The seat covers have been replaced to look original with quality upholstery which we believe to be leather.
All the gauges, dash lights, wipers, sequential turn signals, horn, lights and as well as all electrical work great. The radio is original AM/FM with rear speakers. Did you happen to live in a rural area back then and tried to pull in the rock and roll sounds of a radio station in the city—it's about the same as then--sporadic. You could leave it stock or put in a great new stereo. While having been repainted once, it was repainted the correct original Jamaican Yellow with tasteful black pin stripes and the body is quite straight.
The glass is all original with the proper date code and all chrome and trim are there. There are reproduction factory S/S wheels from West Coast Classic Cougar and good Michelin radials with narrow whitewalls. This car shows very well and has been in several car shows and cruise-ins. It has spent most of its life stored inside and was only driven about 4K miles in the past year.
Recent work and improvements to the car include but are not limited to: tune up, plugs, wires, filters, and oil, the sequential turn signal module was replaced with updated solid-state unit, both vacuum canisters for the hideaway headlights have been replaced (there is a lifetime warranty on these), various vacuum lines, new Exhaust from crossover back, new ignition switch, headlight switch, battery, voltage regulator, heavy duty alternator and the tilt-away steering column was rebuilt with new solenoids. It starts right up, drives very well, stops straight, shifts crisply and has made many round trips from Salem to Portland and oh yeah—did we mention it SOUNDS incredible and is anything but mellow?

V8 Interceptor [S4 Ep. 15-3]
Today on GEARZ, Stacey brings the Rat Roaster two steps closer to completion as he installs a custom Exhaust system underneath the car to quiet it down and then lays out the 3" chopped top that is going to cover the top of the car when it's raining. If you've ever wondered how they do convertible tops, this is the show to see. After that, he rolls back the Trail Boss Jeep. Last week was about increasing off-road performance... this week is about street performance, as he continues to transform it into a rig that is Boss on the trail... and on the street! Stacey continues with the V8 Interceptor project, as he throws on wheels and tires, to give it a real mean stance! GRRRR! Stacey also introduces the gauge cluster for the '67
