This is video 1 of 3 of me assembling my G-Force GF5R 5 speed clutch
assisted transmission. I haven't seen much on these transmissions online
other than pictures so I figured I would make a simple video of re-assembly
the next time I had it apart. It was clutchless and I disassembled it to
change it over to clutch assisted so I can drive it on the street. I had
the camera mounted to the side of my head so the footage is a little bad at
times. Like the Doug Nash 5 speeds these are very easy to work on if you
have the proper retaining ring pliers. I have other videos on Youtube of
my car with this transmission when it was clutchless. I also have videos
of my car with a Jerico 4 speed and a Doug Nash street 5 speed. The car is
a 1979 Monte Carlo with a naturally aspirated 408 SBC and runs mid to low

Hey Folks - A note about this video.
There are 3 ways to downshift the Road & Track 6-speed:
1. clutchless with speed match - just blip the throttle before engaging the
2. clutchless without speed match - **the way I am showing** this will
momentarily break traction and it is the most abrupt shift method but also
3. use clutch - this will bring the speed matching up as you release the

For any automobile with a CVT transmission to move, the forward clutch has
to be engaged. The essence of the CVT is in the way it operates. In the
CVT, you will find two variators pulleys, a steel belt, a high-pressure oil
pump, a valve body with solenoids, and a planetary gear set. All CVT units
have a planetary gear set for reverse operation, and a two clutch packs,
for forward and reverse. Instead of a chain like a bycicle, the CVT uses a
belt that rides on the surface of the variator pulleys. An analysis of the
CVT says that its operation, is as simple as the speed sprockets of a

primary pulley connects to the input shaft, through the forward clutch
assembly, which applies in all forward ranges. This is a normal wet clutch
