2009 BMW 650i Convertible
The good: Antiroll technology keeps the 2009 BMW 650i Convertible stable in
the corners, while its engine provides a compromise between power and
economy. The navigation system's traffic avoidance feature works well, and
we like the new lane departure warning system.
The bad: The BMW 6-series still uses the old iDrive interface, which makes
using the cabin electronics difficult. An otherwise nice exterior design is
ruined by the oddly shaped trunk lid.
The bottom line: Although the 2009 BMW 650i Convertible makes for a good
luxury cruiser and sport driver, with practical cabin tech, we would wait
for the next model update, which promises a better design and new

Are you looking for a sunny day toy that combines top notch luxury with
world class performance? This unbeatable BMW drop top is the perfect
solution for anyone who wants a fantastic modern luxury car without the
sticker shock or depreciation of a showroom fresh model!
The cool thing about this pristine 2007 650i Sport is the fact that it
provides the very best of BMW's world-renowned performance characteristics.
The fantastic thing about this pristine 2007 650i Sport is the fact that
you get all that dynamic driving ability in a competent and stylish
convertible! Covered in a great looking coat of original Mineral Silver
Metallic paint that has been babied and protected since it was new, this
awesome BMW wears what some enthusiasts believe is the best looking
sheetmetal to come out of BMW in the last 20 years.
Performance has always been BMW's strong point, and the 4.8 liter N62 V8
under this 650i Sport's long hood does NOT disappoint! With 367 horsepower and a stout 361
lb./ft. of torque, it's an exceptionally slick piece which motivates this
awesome top down cruiser effortlessly. And if you're not careful, you'll
routinely find yourself going 10-20 MPH faster than how the car actually feels.
Designed first and foremost as a luxury car engine which placed refinement
above all-out performance, the N62 features an Alusil aluminum block,
aluminum heads with four valve Valvetronic technology, and fracture-split
forged and powdered connecting rods to create a torque curve that is as
broad as it is flat. At part throttle, the car feels electric smooth; but
when you open it up, great gushing V8 sounds seem to emulate from all
around you and the car springs forward with a ferocity belying its size and
weight. And with expert factory maintenance since it was new, this 650i
Sport runs as well as the day it came home with its first lucky owner.
Naturally, a powerhouse like this 650i Sport's N62 V8 needs a whole lot of
top notch hardware to back it up! Behind the engine you'll find a seamless
6-speed automatic transmission which provides precise shift points that are
certainly up to big engine's challenge. That slick-shifting transmission
spins a limited slip differential which combines the car's excellent 50/50
weight distribution with high tech aluminum suspension components for
confident launches and quick acceleration. That composed and confident
suspension is comprised of a Macpherson strut front and multi-link rear
four wheel independent set up which utilizes dynamic stability control,
standard rollover protection and BMW's impressive brake drying and brake
standby software to turn this already serious performer into a curve
carving monster. Stops are provided by four giant discs which are clamped
by large silver calipers via a standard anti-lock brake system. And the
final piece of the performance puzzle, which comes courtesy of the Sport
package, is a set of positively gorgeous machined aluminum 19 inch BMW "M"
branded wheels that wear 255/40 front and 285/35 rear Continental Sport
Contact 2 performance radials.
Inside the car it's all about traditional 'old world' luxury, with black
leather buckets, acres of wood trim and every electronic option BMW could
think of built into their famous iDrive system. The supple leather covering
the four seats shows hardly any wear at all, and the front buckets feature
heat, complete power adjustment with driver memory, and manual bottom
extenders. In front of those seats, a soft touch dash which holds crisp,
orange lit gauges next to a centered iDrive screen, flows into soft touch
door panels. And between those seats, a slick metal trimmed shifter rides
next to controls for an MP3 compatible eight speaker sound system, knobs
for the car's dual zone climate control and a giant navigation button for
the car's infamous iDrive system. Keeping the driver connected to the road
is a leather wrapped tilt and telescoping steering wheel spins a bright BMW
propeller logo next to redundant thumb controls; and fresh black foot
pedals which hang over like-new black floor mats that protect like-new
Reliable, streetable and poised to become your transportation of choice,
this 360 horsepower BMW convertible
put a new twist on the ultimate driving machine. Call, click or visit

2010 BMW 650i Convertible Review
The good: BMW handling is always a delight, and the 2010 BMW 650i
Convertible keeps in line with the brand. Nav system maps offer excellent
resolution and terrain features, and also show traffic. Driver assistance
features, such as lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control, are
The bad: Power-train technology is behind the curve compared with other BMW
models. The car is pricey, and could look a lot better.
The bottom line: The 2010 BMW 650i Convertible delivers the luxury and
sporting character we expect from BMW, with generally excellent cabin tech,
but a future model update should improve the engine and exterior design.

New BMW 6 Series Convertible 2012 - On Location Cape Town, South Africa
See More details at http://www.autoblog.gr
Captivating from the outside, magnificent from the inside. The new BMW 6
Words such as "breathtaking", "irresistible" and "flawless" pepper the
history of BMW convertibles. And now the brand has added a new chapter to a
tradition of open-top cars that stretches back decades. The new BMW 6
Series Convertible fulfils the wishes of discerning automotive aesthetes
with its finely honed sense for sporty driving pleasure, groundbreaking
luxury and sparkling looks. In the exclusive environs of the premium
convertible market, the 2+2-seater makes a convincing case for itself with
the most efficient engines, most advanced chassis technology and most
innovative comfort, infotainment and safety features in its segment.
A sweeping bonnet, set-back passenger compartment, long wheelbase and flat
waistline embody the hallmark proportions of a BMW convertible. The new BMW
6 Series Convertible combines these features with a classic soft-top roof
in customary "fin" design. Powerfully contoured surfaces and the surging
dynamism of its lines promise assured driving properties. The luxurious
ambience of the interior is highlighted by the driver-oriented cockpit
set-up and wraps the front passenger and rear passengers in a feeling of
exclusive security. Nowhere is the high-class functionality of the interior
underlined more prominently than in the redesigned freestanding Control
Display of the standard-fitted iDrive control system.
The new BMW 6 Series Convertible is available with two engine variants from
launch. The eight-cylinder powerplant in the BMW 650i Convertible produces
300 kW/407 hp, while an exclusive variant of the six-cylinder in-line
engine with BMW TwinPower turbo, direct
injection and VALVETRONIC --generating 235 kW/320 hp -- has been developed
for the BMW 640i Convertible. Both engines team up as standard with an
eight-speed Sports automatic gearbox. Standard-fitted BMW EfficientDynamics
features include the Auto Start-Stop function in the BMW 640i Convertible.
Chassis technology unmatched in its segment works in tandem with the
cutting-edge engines to ensure even greater dynamic capability and a
similarly discernible improvement in ride comfort compared to its
predecessor. The new BMW 6 Series Convertible comes as standard with Drive
Dynamic Control, which allows drivers to choose their own suspension
settings, while the Adaptive Drive system is available as an option with
electrically controlled dampers and roll stabilisation. In addition to the
standard-fitted electromechanical power steering, another unique feature in
this segment is the optional Integral Active Steering system.
The new BMW 6 Series Convertible also underlines its progressive character
with numerous BMW ConnectedDrive features that none of its rivals can
match. The selection of optional driver assistance systems includes a
rear-view camera, Surround View, BMW Night Vision with pedestrian
recognition and BMW Parking Assistant. The new BMW 6 Series Convertible is
the only car in its segment to be available with a Head-Up Display. Making
its debut in the new soft top, the latest generation of the system uses a
broader palette of colours to create an even more detailed and sharper
