Wild Ford XR6 turbo!

Welcome back to the track Karman. After a 4 year absense the Ford XR6 turbo awoke first pass off the trailer. The Falcon is still a full weight car with electric glass and factory interior. Quickest pass for the day was an easy 9.0 at 151mph. Australia's Quickest BA XR6 Turbo
Phil Chain's XR6 turbo currently holds the record with an 8.4 at 166mph, but the boys had some problems getting it down the track at Jamboree and only (??) managed a couple of 9.1sec runs at over 160mph. It's a beast of a thing with a massive GT47R turbo. How soon until we see a 7sec pass from an XR6 turbo is Australia?





FAST Ford: 8-second street car
Regarded as one of the best performance sedans ever sold in Australia, the Ford Performance Vehicles or FPV F6, was essentially a factory upgraded Ford XR6 out of the box. Making 420hp and peak torque at a touch under 2000rpm, the turbocharged 4L six cylinder provided fantastic acceleration. Nem's 2008 example shown here is nothing short of remarkable. In stock trim the car ran 12.34 at 115mph. Over the past 5 years the times have tumbled to the point where this street car is simply too fast for the track, making over 1100hp to the tyres on north of 40 pounds of Boost. Impressively the F6 still retains an OEM 6spd auto and IRS suspension. FPV Typhoon 4L turbo into the 9s - ZF 6-speed auto
Christian's FPV F6 has become the first 4L turbo Falcon into the 9s using the factory ZF 6-speed auto trans. An awesome achievement, the car is aided by a Nizpro Stage 2+ performance package using the factory Garrett turbo (upgraded 0.7 compressor cover and Nizpro modified wastegate). Making around 450kW to the wheels on 24psi Boost, the car is fuelled by E85 ethanol and was raced with a full Exhaust, and on 275 street radials. Interesting the modified transmission still retains the stock converter stall speed. Christian went 10.06 then 10.007 before going 9.98 at 138mph on his final pass of the day.
