We were a little curious with two cars like this who would put the power to
pavement in straight line drag races. We did try running from a stop, but
only the Mustang could get
traction, the BMW spun like crazy over and over, so we went from a roll to
take traction out of the equation! Both cars are stock, the Mustang 6 speed automatic, and the
BMW has 7 speed DCT transmission, both are V8's, and both make about 400 horsepower. The Mustang sticker price if
$36,xxx, however the M3 is slightly less then DOUBLE the price of the Mustang, over $60,000! More

Stage 1: 2012 Mustang GT Project Blackout by AmericanMuscle.com
In Stage 1 of the AmericanMuscle.com 2012 Mustang GT Project Car build, we take
a stock 2012 5.0L Mustang
with an MT82 Manual transmission and get a baseline at the track, on the Dyno and on the street.
This car comes from the factory with over 400 horsepower. It already had
enough to rocket us down the track in 13.29 seconds, with terrible track
prep, stock all-season tires at stock pressure, right off of the showroom
floor! We know that with the right weather, track prep and the right
driver, this car could go 13.0 in stock form with stock tires and pressure
- right off of the showroom floor as we did. We wanted a challenge! So,
we used that as our baseline.
After that, we were ready to drop in some new Performance and Styling mods.
We added the following:

Once these were added, we strapped Project Blackout back down to our
224xLC to see what the horsepower and torque gains
were after adding a Bama Performance custom tune. The Dyno results? With peak gains
of 31 horsepower
and gains throughout the curve of 55 horsepower and 40 torque at
around 7000 RPM, we were happy with the results!
We headed back to Cecil County Dragway and clicked off a 12.45 pass on the
same stock wheels and all-season tires with stock tire pressure! Not too
shabby, considering the track conditions and weather weren't much better!
