2013 Ford Mustang V6 review: walk-around, start-up, & engine rev
Gotta love those sequential rear turn signals!!! Here's my review of the 2013 Ford Mustang. I did this at my old job at a car rental agency since I don't yet own a Mustang, though I have sought financing options for a 2013 GT500, not this V6 Mustang. This is still a very nice car, but just not enough horsepower for me ;)
This 2013 Mustang has an aluminum block V6 engine mated to a Getrag-Ford MT82 6-speed automatic transmission, though a 6-speed manual is also available. Electric power steering replaces the conventional pre-2011 hydraulic version. The new 3.7 L (3.72 L or 227 cu. in.) aluminum block V6 engine shaves 40 lb (18 kg) from the outgoing, pre-2011 model year version. With 24 valves and Twin Independent Variable Cam Timing (TiVCT), it produced 305 hp (227 kW) and 280 lb·ft (380 N·m) of torque.V6 remains rated at 305 hp (227 kW) and 280 lb·ft (380 N·m). HID headlights are now standard on all models.

For this test drive, we go out in the newly refined 2012 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 California Special, equipped with the newly developed 5.0L Ti-VCT 32v V8. The purpose of the drive is to demonstrate the new 5.0L V8 engine in varied road conditions, while discussing many of the features of both the exterior and interior that are included with the GT/CS package.

I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. Not as often as we'd like we get to test and spend time with cars we'd buy with our own money, this happens to be one of those times. We got to spend a week with the 2013 Mustang GT and the contrast in how far this car has come from the 95 Mustang GT that we own is remarkable.
How good is this GT? Good enough we might just buy one with our own cash!
