Roadfly.com - 2011 Jaguar XJL Supersport Road Test & Review
Roadfly spent some well needed quality time with one of the all time great, luxury automobiles... a Jaguar. We specifically road tested the new 2011 Jaguar XJL Supersport. The "L" stands for long wheel base and the Supersport means there's a 500 horsepower supercharged V8 under the hood. Competitors to this wonderful British sports sedan include the Audi A8, the Porsche Panamera turbo, the Bentley Flying Spur, and a few other luxury super cars. When describing the interior the words that come to mind start with luxurious, sexy, functional, cool, and continue from there. Engine 5.0-liter V8, dohc, 32-valve, supercharged Transmission Six-speed automatic transmission with adaptive shift control Suspension Unequal length wishbones, subframe-mounted coil springs, multi-link rear suspension, air springs Brakes Two-piston aluminum calipers, ventilated 380mm rotors (f) and 376mm rotors (r) Dimensions Length/Width/Height (in.): 206.6/74.6/57 Wheelbase: 124.3 in. Roadfly.com - 2011 Lexus IS-F Road Test & Review
The 2011 Lexus IS-F may not look so different than IS-Fs of the past four years, but thorough re-tuning of its suspension has finally transformed it into a complete sports sedan. This isn't your mother's Lexus! The IS-F scorches the tarmac with 416 hp from its 5.0L Yamaha-tuned V8. The redline is 6800rpm, but you can tell the motor wants to pull to 8k and beyond. It produces 371 lb.-ft. of torque at 5200 rpm, and at around 4000 rpm you can hear a noticeable cam phase, like that of a Honda VTEC motor or any of Yamaha's other high-performance street-car motors found in Ford and Toyota products over the years. That somewhat peaky powerband gives the car a very racy feeling, and the 8-speed automatic does a commendable job of getting the power down. The IS-F rockets to 60mph in 4.2 seconds, yet the 8 speeds allow it to achieve decent fuel economy (16/23) and dodge the gas guzzler tax. The addition of a Torsen limited-slip differential, as well as the suspension upgrades, combined to knock off around 8 seconds from the car's lap time at VIR, putting it nearly equal with the vaunted BMW M3. It also equals or bests our tester M3's equipment levels while costing nearly $7000 less. Well done, Lexus. —Ross Rapoport, Road Test Editor and Video Host Visit http://roadflytv.com for more photos and a downloadable window sticker. Roadfly.com - 2011 Mazda RX-8 Review & Test Drive
The Mazda RX-8 is, simply put, one of the most pure sports cars currently being sold. At just over 3,000lb., it is incredibly agile and will stack up handling-wise with anything you can think of. Like most 'handling-first' sports cars, its acceleration is not devastating. It's the only passenger car to use a rotary engine, a 1.3L wonder of smoothness and revs, delivering 232 horsepower at 8,500 rpm and spinning all the way past 9,000! It's a bit short on torque, with just 159 lb.-ft at 5,500 rpm. But for those who like this kind of driving experience, that won't matter. Other quirks are a high appetite for fuel, and Mazda's own recommendation that you check the rotary's oil level...every time you fill up the gas tank! It's nicely packaged, though, with real seating for four adults, suicide doors to access the rear seats, and plenty of storage and a rear-seat pass-through. At $33,055 as tested, it's unlike anything else on the market. And that's worth a lot more than $33 large. —Ross Rapoport, Road Test Editor and Video Host Visit http://roadflytv.com for more pictures and a downloadable window sticker. 2011 Nissan LEAF Electric Car Test Drive & Car Review by RoadflyTV
We finally get some time in the all new, 100% electric car the Nissan LEAF. The first widely available electric car is capable of driving about 110 miles on a charge. The electric motor produces 107 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. The LEAF can be plugged into any conventional home electric outlet to be recharged. The LEAF handles a lot better than expected and it's acceleration was pretty impressive too. It actually felt quick off the line due to the availability of all 207 lb-ft of torque the second your foot hits the accelerator. Rumors are that the 0-60 MPH time is about 10 or 11 seconds. We didn't have time to do an official test unfortunately but it felt a lot quicker than that to us. As far as gas mileage goes. The EPA has rated the LEAF at 99 MPG. Wow!!!
