Miatas at the Gap 2011
Here is footage I put together from my trip to MATG, miatas at the gap. It
was my first time at tail of the dragon and it was by far the most fun I
have ever had!! I will for sure be there next year!
Road Atlanta 2012 HPDE
Road Atlanta, March 4, 2012 w/ Peachtree BMW CCA.
GoPro cameras on the roof, rear window and left rear panel.
1:47 open lap at 8 min.
C5 Corvette at Road Atlanta - NASA-SE March 2011
More HPDE at Road Atlanta. I thought I would try following the gray Honda
S2000. Street tires and a greasy track made for some entertaining moments
(see 2:24 and 2:41) and the honda gets away. I need sticky tires. (data by

Me in my BMW M5 in High Performance Driver Education 2 with NASA
The view out the windshield is with a Panasonic HDC-TM700 and the view of
me is with the GoPro HD. I chipped the lens on the GoPro on the day before
when I dropped it on the asphalt. :(
I made this to show my driving skills, but also my video editing skills
(Premiere Pro CS5). I hope you enjoy both! :)
Audi RS 4 on Road Atlanta with BMW CCA/ACNA
On March 4, 2012.
At 6:58, a pass signal to the blue TT is waved off. At 9:20, three cars
are pitting in, and no traffic is visible in front or behind. For a couple
of moments I'm wondering if I somehow missed a flag or something. At
10:47, an off track car is visible, and it causes a yellow flag at 12:20.
Data was collected with an iPhone and synced with the video manually, and
so should be considered approximate. :)
Crash at GIR
Cold slicks on a cold, greasy track and throttle mismanagement lead to an
intimate encounter with the tire wall. Probably the least fun I've had at
Race car driver heel-toe & footwork - Spec Miata
Click here to see how the race went that weekend:
My footwork in the Spec Miata race car at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The
car is prepared by Ed Railton and Premier Auto Service.
This footage was taken at the end of a long test day, during which I
seriously burned off my tires. As a result it was hard to get a 1:51 lap
time, which is about 2-3 seconds slower than it should have been. I did
mid-1:48s when I got fresher rubber. In the video I'm feathering the
throttle more than usual.
You'll notice the shift from 2nd to 3rd is slower. The 3rd gear synchro is
weak in first generation Miatas, and if you shift too fast it hurts the
You'll also notice copious left-foot braking in turns 3 and 10. I start the
video during braking for turn 11.
I was surprised I could find a spot for the Contour down there, but it's
got a lot of mounting options and it was pretty simple to get a good angle.
Some quick settings changes on the lap top and it was good to go.
I like watching the dirt in the footwell shooting back and forth. With
nearly 1.5 G, it's like upending a bucket.
