WORLD's 1ST ZR1 Corvette Automatic !! - Redline Motorsports - 9.80 @ 139 MPH - Road Test TV
ag-race-video-redline-motorsports-road-test-tv The crew at Redline
Motorsports has been hard at work developing the World's First ZR1 Corvette
with an automatic transmission. After the "Bad" auto ZR1 put down 723 RWHP
and 692 RWTQ on their Dyno, Howard Tanner, the owner
of Redline decided to take the ZR1 to the track for a few 1/4 mile passes.
In hot, humid 80 plus degree weather with a DA of nearly +2000 feet above
sea level, Redline's ZR1 automatic laid down back to back 9.80 passes at
over 139 mph. For more information about Redline Motorsports - go to
ZR1 & Z06 - 150mph acceleration
Some random footage I had of a ZR1 and some Z06 Vettes with views of the
speedometer. The ZR1 view shows how fast it can get to 150mph.

Which is better, manual or automatic transmission? Paddle shift or stick shift? Ending the debate!
http://carlylespicks.com/?p=142 Which is better, manual or automatic
transmission? Paddle shift or stick shift? Ending the debate!
For the true enthusiast, the clutch pedal and gear stick or shifter are a
JOY to use...NOT a burden. Traffic is the one exception but we are talking
about the car enthusiast. We drive fr PLEASURE, NOT to get to work or get
groceries. So traffic is not an issue when it's 7AM on a Saturday or Sunday
and you are headed to your favorite country road.
For the enthusiast, the clutch pedal is a PLUS not a minus. It is a
critical part of what makes driving a stick shift an art. Automatic is
email and manual is a hand written note. A dying art that is much more
involved and personal than email.
Making a perfect shift, makes me smile like NO paddle shift will EVER do!
Manual is a piano played with a live band, automatic is one man with a
Casio keyboard in his basement with automatic accompaniment generated by
the keyboard. The feeling of playing a complex piece correctly dwarfs any
reward of pressing ONE note and having the Casio keyboard play a bunch of
Is a paddle shift a manual transmission?
Being able to request gears manually does NOT make a transmission
automatic. Remember in the automatics from the 80s you had "2" "L" "R"? So
automatics have allowed you to "change gears" since the 80s. This is just
like modern paddle shifters do.
NOTE: A sequential gearbox is NOT the same as the classic automatic
gearbox, but the point is, you could ALWAYS select/request gears in
automatics. So the ability to SELECT gears does not make it manual. You
need the ability to physically disengage the clutch by moving the throw out
bearing and also to physically change the actual gears. This is all
mechanically done, not electronically. It requires focus, finesse,
strength, timing and skill and it's rewarding to do correctly.

Ride Along in My C6 Corvette!
Take a short trip around the block and ride with me in my black C6 Chevy
Corvette. It has the stock 400HP small block that scoots around pretty
well. I set up the video with a Contour HD1080P cam hooked up to a
Panavise suction cup mount. Pretty slick set up, although you can't really
get a good feel for the speed the car is going unless you see me pushed
back in my seat a little:) You do get an awesome view of the interior of
the car and I was especially pleased that the see-thru roof showed up well.
From this point of view it kind of looks like a cockpit. I plan to do
more videos with the cam mounted somewhere else a little more creative:)
If I leave this cam in the car I think the video would make great evidence
in a case for an insurance claim - except of course if I were to cause the
I originally started out looking to sell my slot car set on Ebay and
then decided to try and make some money off of the videos in order to buy a
nice Directv package. In the process I actually BOUGHT another set from
Ebay:) About two weeks ago I got laid off of work and now here am I now
trying to turn this into a home based business! As you can see by this
latest video I've upgraded from toy slot car videos to the real thing:)
Let's hope my work pays off!
