After the "Bad" auto ZR1 put down 723 RWHP and 692 RWTQ on their Dyno, Howard Tanner, the owner of Redline decided to take the ZR1 to the track for a few 1/4 mile passes. In hot, humid 80 plus degree weather with a DA of nearly +2000 feet above sea level, Redline's ZR1 automatic laid down back to back 9.80 passes at over 139 mph. http://www.RoadTestTV.com Redline Motorsports brought its Twin turbo 432 cubic inch LSX powered Corvette Z06 to the latest Street Car Drag event. Redline recently added an RPM built 4L80E automatic transmission to this bowtie monster. The Redline Z06 laid down earth spinning 930 hp to the wheels, and ripped through the 1/4 mile in 9.07 seconds at over 159 mph. That's moving.

Chevrolet has already debuted the new C7 Corvette Stingray and those bow-tie lovers out there are already excited. So what does the last C6 model year have to offer? Well the Grand Sport trim is set above the base model but below the high performance Z06. With the Grand Sport you get more luxury amenities combined with some performance parts from the Z06. The base price on the 2013 Chevy Grand Sport Coupe model is $56,000 with the Convertible model starting at $59,600.
For over 60 years the Chevrolet Corvette has been the iconic American sports car. This is the end of the 6th generation Corvette and usually when you get to the end of a vehicle run there are some special editions that debut; and that is what we have here. This is the Corvette Grand Sport and it sits nicely between the base model and the Z06. The Grand Sport may not have the big 7.0 liter V-8 engine the Z06 has but that means the price is also more affordable and the fuel economy is much better at 16 MPG in the city and 26 MPG on the highway.
According to James Bell of General Motors: "This vehicle represents the send-off for the C6 generation because the all new C7 generation will be on the market pretty soon. What you have here with the Grand Sport is the base model 6.2 liter V-8 engine capable of 430 horsepower and sub 4-second 0-60 MPH runs done up with some cool parts. This car has the graphics package on the side, the gills on the fenders, the rear brake vents, and the Magnetic Ride Suspension which allows this car to corner at over 1.0g."
The 2013 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport is essentially a base model C6 with a lot of Z06 performance, appearance, and handling enhancing parts. Overall the Grand Sport is a great effort but we are all eagerly awaiting the new C7 Corvette Stingray.
