Follow me as I check my Battery Voltage to see if I need a new battery or alternator. Instructions to access the hidden OBC functions: 1. Hold Trip Reset while turning ignition key to on position 2. OBC should show "Test" 3. Use Trip Reset to select function 19.0 that unlocks all the features 3. Wait for display to show "Off" 4. Depress Trip Reset for 1/4 second and release it 5. Step 1: Hold the knob Step 2: Turn the key into position one while still holding the knob down Step 3: Keep holding until it the work "Reset" pops up Step 4: Let go of the knob and hold down on it again until the "Reset" starts flashing Step 5: When flashing let go and press the knob once more time and now your inspection should set back to 25,000km If fails please repeat the steps. Follow along as we replace the reservoir/filter and flush the fluid on a 2001 330xi, The power steering fluid and filter are one of the most overlooked preventive maintenance areas on most BMWs and MINIs. (Think about it -- when did you ever changed the power steering fluid on any vehicle?) On BMWs, this system provides Boost not just for the steering but often for the power brakes and self-leveling suspensions, as well. Time and time again, we'll look at the power steering fluid in a BMW or MINI and it is filthy! (Running on old, degraded fluid will shorten the useful life of the steering rack/gearbox, brake Booster, fluid pump, etc.) The fluid should be bright, clear red or, depending on the application, just clean and clear One of the reasons this system gets overlooked is that there is no direct provision for changing the fluid; therefore the job is a bit more tedious. But it is not so tedious that it should be ignored. We recommend a biennial (every other year) or 50,000-mile fluid change for the power Boost system. Additionally, most systems have a fluid filter incorporated into the fluid reservoir. (A lot of mechanics do not even know that this filter exists!) Change the filter when changing the fluid. (This is also a great time to replace any leaking power steering hoses.) There are three different fluids used in BMWs and MINIs; the correct fluid is typically noted on a label on the reservoir cap. Quickly Unlock and Reset the REGION Code of your BMW Business CD CD53 Radio
This video demonstrates how to reset, code the REGION and calibrate the PLAYBACK features of your BMW Business CD Radio. The unit I'm resetting is a Feb 2006 Alpine BMW Business CD53 Radio BMW Parts Number 65 12 6 961 215 that has MP3, HD Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio, and iPod Data/Auxillary Capabilities. This unit was ordered online but came set for another region. If your radio came like this unit did you will need to follow the steps in this video to unlock, reset and code your radio to your region. You can also see hidden information (like the production date and SV number) on the radio as well as set your antenna sensitivity and play around with your DSP settings. This will work for all year BMW Business CD53 and CD radios found on the 3 series and X3 vehicles as well as other BMW vehicles. There have been a number of posts on the Service Mode settings. Here is a summary of what I have seen: AREA - self explanatory (EUR,USA, JAP, etc) AF - Alternate frequency feature which automatically finds and can switch to a stronger station with same programming.
