They used some trick video editing to try and cover up the fact they used a rolling start on a drag strip. (I've never heard of rolling start drag racing)
EVs are unbeatable off a standing start so to rig the race, the myth BSers specified a rolling start.
The only fair comparison is to run both rolling and standing starts, but then being fair isn't their gig.

Wrightspeed X1 vs. Lamborghini Gallardo and NASCAR
Filmed at Altamont Motorsports Park on Jan 23, 2007. Shows the Wrightspeed X1 prototype electric car against a Gallardo (520hp, AWD) and a Nascar. Standing start and a couple of laps. Lambo gets off the line well, but the clutch smells really hot after just a few starts. NASCAR is not set up for standing starts but goes well once it's up to speed. X1 is quite happy with standing starts, it's not hard on the car at all. Max lateral g was 1.41, on Hoosier A6 tires. Max speed was a little under 100mph. It's a half mile oval.

Quimera is very proud to announce that the AEGT001 (All Electric GT 001) Shakedown, performed the 26th of august, at F1 Circuit of Alcañiz (Motorland), Spain has been a complete success. During this Shakedown some critical parts and concepts were tested with outstanding results (speed, temperature, gearbox, batteries, BMS, mechanical solutions, cooling). The whole team is now very confident to take the project further in the development and to start the promotional and testing activities in order to let the world know about this reference project.
The next steps are:
- Official presentation at Motorland, Alcañiz, Spain. the exact date is yet to be defined but it will happen during september.
- Frankfurt Motorshow presentation
- Kick-off of the second phase with the introduction of further improvements.
- Two protoypes will be manufactured in the coming months and official tests for interested professional teams and drivers will be conducted first quarter 2012

During the National Corvette Museum's 15th anniversary, Tom Peters unveiled the Corvette Stingray Concept car. It is a running show car as he drove it outside for better pictures.
Wrightspeed X1 vs. Jet-powered VW
A drag race over half a mile on a closed 3600ft runway between an electric car and a VW new Beetle with a jet engine installed, complete with afterburner. The original VW engine is also used. The afterburner cannot run continuously else it overheats. The electric car reaches 60mph in about 120 ft, and is rev limited to 112mph, which it reaches between 1/8 and 1/4 mile.
