Ignition Key Transponders
Ignition Key Transponders Describes the workings and applications of modern automotive key transponders. These tiny chips transmit a digital signal that's then processed by the Anti-Theft (antitheft) module. An OK signal or command is then given to the ECM and related computers to allow injection and starter activation. Learn how they work with this clear and concise video. Future videos will detail what to do to reprogram ignition keys. Spark Plug Well Oil Leak Fix, Honda Accord - EricTheCarGuy
Spark Plug Well Oil Leak Fix, Honda Accord - EricTheCarGuy http://www.ericthecarguy.com/ I know I've promised this one for some time so here it is. If you have this problem I recommend replacing the seals in the valve cover first and then coming back to recheck for oil in the spark plug wells in about a month or so, if you find oil then I recommend performing this procedure. I can't stress enough how important it is to make sure everything is lined up correctly when you reinstall the rocker assembly, bad things can happen if you don't. --- Click below and Stay Dirty Visit me at EricTheCarGuy.com http://ericthecarguy.com/ Visit EricTheCarGuy Forum http://www.ericthecarguy.com/forum/default.aspx Visit my Facebook Page: http://www.facebook.com/EricTheCarGuy --- ETCG Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, it cannot guarantee against unauthorized modifications of this information, or improper use of this information.  EricTheCarGuy assumes no liability for property damage or injury incurred as a result of any of the information contained in this video. EricTheCarGuy recommends safe practices when working with power tools, automotive lifts, lifting tools, jack stands, electrical equipment, blunt instruments, chemicals, lubricants, or any other tools or equipment seen or implied in this video.  Due to factors beyond the control of EricTheCarGuy, no information contained in this video shall create any express or implied warranty or guarantee of any particular result.  Any injury, damage or loss that may result from improper use of these tools, equipment, or the information contained in this video is the sole responsibility of the user and not EricTheCarGuy.

Picking the Honda Civic Ignition
This is not for illegal purposes! This is for locksport only! This is me picking the door lock and then the ignition switch to a 2002 Honda Civic. First I pick the ignition without the key near the sensor. The immobilizer check fails and the engine will not start. Then I turn the switch again with the correct key held close to the sensor to fool the electronics. You can see the security light shut off and the engine start like a charm. Does Lacquer Thinner Clean Catalytic Converters? -EricTheCarGuy
Link to Scotty Kilmer's Video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5icTmYItwiE After watching Scotty's video I was curious if it would actually work. Since we know from my video on diagnosing catalytic converters that the catalytic converters in my Subaru were bad, I though it was a perfect opportunity to try out this theory. I used about 1 quart of lacquer thinner to about 7 gallons of gas. I drove a total of 200 miles and tested the converters. The testing showed a very slight improvement but nothing that I would call significant. It was worth a try. I can say that I did not notice any issues with drivability during or after the test. It may not have fixed the problem, but it didn't seem to cause any other problems either. I feel the check engine light that came on was just a coincidence and not the result of putting lacquer thinner in the gas tank. Here's some useful links for you. How to install a car remote start (roughly) PART 1
This Video and the following 2 parts are just a rough overview about how to install a remote starter kit in your car. The car I am installing this in is my 3.8L fully loaded Dodge Grand Caravan. YES I DRIVE A MINIVAN and I dont have kids, so what? xD Anyway I want to show how complex this job is and that it sure aint easy. If you have knowledge as technician or electrician you will be fine, if you are COMPLETLY new to this kinda stuff, I recommend to see a dealership or a outfitter to get your remote start installed. Installing these kind of systems wrong into your car, could cause the electronics to fail. I have never done this before and received no help, so understand this is not to show you how YOU HAVE TO do it, I simply want to show you what needs doing, if you decide to install a cheapy kit. Messing with the security controller (transponder module) could prevent you from driving back home, if damaged during install. As an advice, when you program the transponder module to override the factory anti theft and you fail, DO NOT REPROGRAM right away or try to start the car by remote. Instead, insert the key and start the car until the Anti theft module is reset (let it run for 20 seconds). It WILL lock you out, if you attempt to start the car more than 4 times without having the right "disarm chip". Once the original key is inserted and the car ran, the module will be set to zero counts of fail starts and you will be fine. As for the complainers and haters. Sure there are pro installers that do a MUCH MUCH better job than I am doing here, but I bet you a million dollars, you had to learn your way also, so keep your criticism on a low and understand this was MY FIRST TIME! A so called, remote start kit virgin. Thanks :)
