Dyno Testing Comp Cams Hemi Phaser 274 Camshaft for VVT 5.7L & 6.4L HEMI Engines: Challenger
With the release of Comp Cams' new line of VVT camshafts for the late model
HEMI 5.7L and 6.4L's, we couldn't wait to test out their biggest camshaft
on our test car with a stock engine. Not only were we surprised at the
power we made but this car sounds sick! Driveability is awesome as well.
Although tuning this combination requires an advanced level of HEMI tuning
experience, if you choose to go this route with your HEMI you won't be
dissappointed. Vehicle was tested with Kooks 1 3/4" long tube headers, high
flow cats, Corsa cat-back, AFE CAI and a 180 thermostat.
Challenger R/T 5.7L VVT HEMI w/ Comp Cams 619 Lift Camshaft - Initial Idle clip at HHP
Guys are asking us what a variable cam HEMI sounds like. Here's our first
high lift test cam in a stock 5.7L VVT HEMI with a phase limiter. We just
started testing and we're running a 730rpm idle with a quick tune. We will
work to get the idle down and increase the lopey sound as we progress. So
far, we've been able to tune out all of the Check Engine Lights. Tomorrow
we will Dyno tune her
to see what gains we get from a big camshaft.

Automotive in Vancouver, WA. Idle is at about 750 once idle settles in.
When coming to a stop while driving, the cam likes to bump a lil bit on the
vacuum/brakes which takes a lil to get used to. Best 1/4 mile was
