You can't beat the sound of twin webbers @ 7,000 rpm down Conrod straight and holding it flat through the chase @ 190kph. 1969 Mk1 Ford Capri 1600GT during session 4 of 4 in the NSW Road Racing Club Regularity time trial. 1600 Crossflow Kent 711M pushrod motor. Twin weber DCOE40 carburettors Extractors. Original gearbox and diff. Original brakes except for ventilated and slotted rotors with race type brake pads. Superlite 13 x 7 wheels with Toyo 888 rear and Kuhmo tyres front. Regularity is where you nominate a lap time that you can consistantly achieve and accrue penalty points for each 0.1 of a second that you go over or under your nominated lap time. The most consistant (regular) driver staying as close as possible to nominated lap time accrues the least amount of points and is the winner. The type of car doesn't matter as it's all about knowing how fast you can drive whatever car you have and do it lap after lap at a consistant pace. Great fun. Zakspeed Ford Turbo Capri
Zakspeed Ford turbo Capri beim AvD Oldtimer GP 2012 auf dem Nürburgring. Peter Zakowski fährt das Original Meisterschaftsauto von 1981, mit dem Klaus Ludwig damals gewann. Das Fahrzeug ist mit dem kleinen Motor der Division 2 bestückt mit 1,4l Hubraum. In beiden Rennen sah Zakowski die Zielflagge wegen technischer Probleme nicht. Im Rennen 1 bedrängt er Oliver Mathai im Porsche 935 und im Rennen 2 räumt er binnen kürzester Zeit das Feld von hinten auf. Sowohl nach dem Training als auch nach dem ersten Rennen wurde am Fahrzeug umfangreich gearbeitet. Der Ladedruck ist noch nicht eingestellt und deshalb hat P.Zakowski die Hand häufiger mal am "Dampfrad". Vom turbo Capri wurden insgesamt fünf Fahrzeuge gebaut. Ein Fahrzeug wurde zerstört, eines zu einem Mustang umgebaut, ein Fahrzeug wurde von Herbert Stenger bei Bergrennen eingesetzt, ein Fahrzeug baut Stefan Mücke in Berlin wieder auf und hier eben das 1981er Meisterschaftsauto bei Zakspeed. onboard race1 at 05:35 onboard race 2 at 12:14
