1999 cadillac seville sts fuel pump change out
First please read the thread by N*Caddy in the cadillac forum...on the
fuel pump removal and installation... He offers good advice of this process
... The only thing he forgot to mention was disconnecting the negative
battery cable for GP, safety and resetting of engine light...other wise
very good advice....
I took some pics of this removal.. This was my first time doing a fuel
pump... Easy access panel through trunk...
In case my captions did not work I'll shortly describe each pic...
#1 after removing the access panel... Wow dusty and rusty...
#2 cleaned up the pump to see what I was dealing with...
#3 disconnect the wiring plugs (this is a process to release the gas
#4 take off beauty cover at engine compartment and release the pressure
at the fuel valve.. It is like a tire valve so you can stop and go... I
used a screwdriver for the needle then rotated my rag a couple of times to
soak it all up...theres more than I thought so be patient..after that
disconnect your negative side of battery(under your back seat, passenger
side) make sure its out of the way... Avoid the cable touching any metal...
Turn key on to check for disconnection.. If ok turn key back off...
#5 old fuel pump after removal... My lock ring was rusted up pretty
good... I used a chisel and rubber mallet carefully... It wasn't bunging
much so I sprayed WD40 to loosen the rust..(let set for about 1/2 hr,in
between soakings I pounded some more.. After the fourth time it freed
#6 new fuel pump... I had to use the black sensor and plastic lock tabs
from the old fuel pump ...I also reused the rubber gasket after
inspection... The new one was too big...Be careful not to break those
plastic tabs getting them off...they are for locking the fuels lines back
in.. Brittle.. Small screwdriver and patience...
#7 Cleaned up the best I could do... Wanted to grind and sand off rust but
didn't want to push my luck, wanted to stick around for awhile... Make
sure you do not drop any debris in tank while working ...I used a old paint
brush, rags and compressed air...I did clean up the locking ring itself with
wire brush.. Added small amount of Vaseline to the bottom of ring for
#8 before installing new pump...
#9 new pump installed.. Had to cut and connect wires to the new
connection plug... Wasn't all bad.. Just make sure you got a good
connection after crimping wires, double check to see if wire could pull
out of splicing coupler... Don't muscle it just a little pull..then I used
electrical tape around the new wiring...wanted to use shrink insulation
around the new wiring but like I said.. Didn't not want to push my
luck....think safe...::The lock ring went on easier then off...
#10 after all this is done.. Double check plug connectors on pump... Put
battery cable back on... Turn key on(3 mins or so) DO NOT START... Turn
key on and start,go back to see if pump is running... If so let the car
run for about 5 mins ... Check for leaks.. If no leaks put fuel shield back
on , liner back in trunk, engine beauty cover secured, hood down and your
ready to go.... Mines working fine.. No more gas gauge bouncing around and
not knowing how much fuel you have...and if you just thinking of changing
out sensor your better off doing the whole thing...its recommended ..
Hope this helps some people out...sorry about no vid.. But I was working
by myself..needed both hands..and they would of been a lot of editing...
How to install a fuel pump on grand prix gtp
In this video I am replacing a fuel pump on a Pontiac Grand Pirx but is
very common procedure when it comes to other gm cars around the same year
and gm decided to add a service port in the trunk area to remove the fuel
pump instead of removing the whole tank like in the late 80's to late 90's
Hope this video helps the DIY people out there who plan on doing this to
their own cars without having to pay someone an arm and a leg or get
ripped off to get a fuel pump replaced.
Cost of the fuel pump online was only $60, Labor was my own time.
Cost of pump at famous auto stores $251.99, Labor $90 an hour , so you
tell me who is ripping who off ? Seems like this world is a whole rip off
but with out it there would be no economy right ? That is why I save money
and even save money for my own customers and they always come back because
I treat them fairly and don't see them as dollar signs but also time is
money so you cant work for free either but be fair and you will always have

Bonneville SSEi Exhaust Before & After
Video I threw together with the stock exhuast, then open manifold then
after installing a ZZP Power Log and 3" Downpipe with Magnaflow high-flow
Once the engine warms up the stock bosal Exhaust is virtually silent, all you hear is air
and that's mostly the intake. Open manifolds are epically awesome loud,
however unfortunately illegal. The PLog, 3" downpipe and magnaflow cat are
decently louder than stock and have a deeper mellow rumble to it, which the
camera doesn't really pick up on. Its enough to hear and know it's not
stock, yet not overwhelming. I really like it as is, so my plans for
magnaflow muffies later on, might go out the window.
Engine Coolant Thermostat replacement 3800 V6 engine - Pontiac Bonneville P0128 OBD II Code repair
My check engine light came on in the fall of '09 so I had the code pulled.
It was P0128- Coolant Thermostat (Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat
Regulating Temperature). I decided to check and replace the thermostat. It
was the problem and has been fine since. Overall the job took about 45 min
to 1 hour including draining, warming the engine, and refilling the cooling
system. It was a pretty easy fix. This problem causes the engine to run too
cool because the thermostat is stuck open, causing more coolant to go
through the radiator than necessary. Ignoring this problem causes the fuel
mixture to be too rich, which will cause poor fuel economy.

the warranty goes with the Buyer of the rebuild etc. And at 100k to 150K
the ransmissions do go out on these Powerful Monsters at least with this
one you know it needs repaired instead of being Surprised later. Make sure
