10 second 68 Firebird Sacramento Raceway 1987
This 68 Firebird was my first car purchased when I was 17 in 1977. The car
is currently undergoing a frame-off restoration.
At the time this video was taken in 1987 it was powered by a 455 Pontiac
The best ¼ mile performance was an ET of 10.87 and a MPH of 124.83 WITHOUT
the aid Nitrous oxide.
The heads are ported factory cast iron D-Ports cast# 48.
Crankshaft is factory 455
Rods are factory 73/74 455 Super-Duty
Camshaft is a Cam Dynamics solid flat-tappet with .618/.644" lift (1.65
rockers) 265/275 @.050 duration
Advertised duration is 312/322 int/exh
Pistons are Ross flat-tops yielding 12:1 compression ratio with the 69cc
Carburetion is 2 660cfm Holley center squirters mounted on a Doug
Nash/Warrior tunnel-ram manifold.
The differential is a Dana 60 with a 4.10 ratio gear set

Pontiac fans, have we got a treat for you! This properly restored 1968
Firebird features a fresh V8, 700R4 transmission, posi-traction rear end
and a killer paint job. Add in a stack of documents that include
restoration photos, and receipts, and you end up with a slam dunk of a
drop-top cruiser that's ready for the show field or the open road.
The quality work throughout the body is apparent. Thousands of dollars were
spent on the 2006 restoration. The floors and trunk are spotless. This was
never a rusty car. Panel gaps are precise and the dark blue pearl paint is
better than they were applying to new cars in 1967. It has all been buffed
to an eye-popping shine. All of the chrome and stainless trim is equally
Mechanically, this car is the real deal. The 8 cylinder engine is
beautifully painted, and has seen only 1,250 miles since the restoration.
The engine bay is exceptionally well detailed throughout. Ceramic coated
headers, MSD ignition, a high torque starter, aluminum radiator, single
plane polished aluminum intake, oversized water pump pulley and stainless
fuel and cooler lines have all been included in the restoration.
Underneath, it's just as nice. The 700 R4 automatic transmission feeds a
3:73 posi-traction, powder coated, rear end. New 2.5" Exhaust, power front disc brakes and a park
brake, cross dilled rotors, QA1 adjustable shocks and lowering spindles are
also present. The restorer went through and had the control arms, front
wheel wells and the frame all powder coated as well. This is a car that
drives exactly the way a new car would have in 1968. The rear wheels are
Budnik 20" wearing 275/35/ZR20 tires, and the fronts are Budnik 18" with
235/40/ZR18 tires. 248-974-9513
The black leather interior is very well done. The front bucket seats and
the back bench seat are both in near perfect condition. The center console
with wood grain detail is beautiful as well. It is also equipped with an
AM/FM radio, tilt wheel and seatbelts. Door panels, carpets, and the white
vinyl convertible top, are all in excellent condition.
Calling this a nice car just doesn't do it justice. This is a gorgeous car
with an impeccable pedigree and a huge helping of performance thrown in
just for fun. This is an investment-grade automobile, and at this price,
you couldn't duplicate the restoration on this car. It's in a league of its

1968 Pontiac Firebird 400 Cold Start
My 1968 Pontiac Firebird had been parked up for a week in sub-zero
So, I thought it would be a good idea to crank it over and warm it through
a little. I'd recently had an MSD ignition system and new Edelbrock carb
installed, so was also interested to find out how easy it was to start
The Pontiac was started with no choke. I cranked it over initially just to
make sure everything was free, and to get the oil moving a little, then
popped the bonnet to check the hoses. After that, and with a few pumps of
the pedal, off it went!
The car is a bit of a project, but it's road legal. I'll be doing some more
videos on it soon, so stay tuned.

1969 Pontiac Firebird 400
This is my 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 project-Plans for this car are drum to
disc brakes upgrades first! You can hear the old drums squeeking as I
brake! suspension, interior, and house of kolor candy apple red paint with
black rally stripes! Audio system and interior are already being worked on.
Also im planning to lower it 2 inches all around. Im debating on wether to
paint the wheels black or match them kandy apple red? or try to combine
both black and candy red for the rims? What do you think?
Engine is a freshly rebuilt 400 block, .060 bored, hooker headers, holley
carb, holley electric fuel pump, and dual flowmasters. For now not focusing
on the engine but I've been thinking about rebuilding a faster 400 and upgrading the automatic
transmission to a manual shift 5 speed. Not trying to build a car show
quality or a superfast car, mostly a cruiser and once in a while fun at the
