RENNtech Modified World's Fastest Mercedes Benz

On April 1, 2011, RENNtech regained their long standing title of worlds fastest Mercedes Benz. Our RENNtech modified CL65, which held the long standing previous record once again reigned supreme by shattering its previous best quarter mile time with an unprecedented run of 10.27 @ 137.46 mph at Palm Beach International Raceway. This official time makes our CL 65 the fastest Mercedes on the planet. The previous record of 10.51 @ 135.11 mph, also held by RENNtech's CL65, was broken just last week by a C63 running 125 shot of Nitrous which logged a 10.41 @ 135.27 mph run on 3/25/2011. Not one to be bested and looking to regain the title; RENNtech went back to work in search of even more from the CL 65 with further improvements and without the use of Nitrous. Modifications to the CL 65 included an even more aggressive race only tune, enhanced drive line modifications such as upgraded transmission internals and a prototype torque converter and additional light weighted vehicle components. These are in addition to the already installed RENNtech modified ECU/TCU, carbon airbox, limited slip differential, high flow Exhaust, drag radials, modified heat exchanger and Intercooler pump. World's Fastest Mercedes SLR McLaren 10.43 @ 133 mph - modified by RENNtech - Road Test TV
A Renntech modified Mercedes McLaren SLR shatters the SLR quarter mile record and runs 10.43 @ 133 mph at Palm Beach International Raceway on April 22, 2011. The SLR sports a hand-built 5.4 L (331.9 cu in), supercharged, all-aluminium, SOHC V8 engine with three valves per cylinder. When stock, the Lysholm-type twin-screw Supercharger produces approximately 0.9 bar (13 psi) of Boost and generates 617 horsepower (460 kW; 626 PS) @6500 rpm. This RENNtech modified SLR makes approximately 750 horsepower and is equipped with a RENNtech, modified Supercharger pulley for more Boost as well as a tuned ECU. In addition, this SLR has RENNtech Hi Flo Exhaust and Hoosier Drag Radials.





722 6 NAG 1 Transmission, Fail safe, No Communication
This vehicle has a shift solenoid electrical code. I did'nt replaced the TCM until I was 100% sure it nedded it. As you can see all the wiring harness was contaminated with transmission fluid. This is very common on these units. It travels by cappilary action. If you noticed, I had communication with the TCM on OBD direct. The TCM has a dedicated wire going directly to the DLC connector and uses the CAN system to communicate with the rest of the modules. If the TCM is unable to communicate with the PCM, then it goes into failsafe mode and won't shift. Remember that the tranny has no output speed sensor. It gets it from the PCM. Not only that, but engine load and other inputs. I know I did'nt finished filming the whole process, as you saw that it was more of cleaning the harness than anything else. Sometimes 520hp is not enough, so we worked with our good friends at RENNtech to tune our Vossen Project CLS 63 AMG and see about breaking past 600hp! We then decided to document the process, starting with a short interview with Hartmut Feyhl the founder of RENNtech. Next we show the Dyno run and the improvement with the tune and then some fun at Palm Beach International Raceway. The 20x9 and 20x10.5 CV3 in matte graphite gives the CLS 63 added stance and allows wider tires to be used which are needed to put down that extra power.
