WCCC Open House / Cruise / BBQ / Great Oregon Steam-Up 2011
Every year in August we have an open house at West Coast Classic Cougar. We are based just outside of Salem, Oregon, and have a wrecking yard full of 67-73 Cougars, and a warehouse full of new and used Cougar parts.
It's a two-day event that usually takes place on a Friday and Saturday. On Friday, we have our open house and a small car show. Then in the evening, we cruise over to Silverton for a barbecue at our friend Brian's place in the middle of open farmland. Finally, on Saturday, we attend the Great Oregon Steam-Up at Antique Powerland, located close by our shop in Brooks. This year we had a reserved space for Cougars. There is an endless amount of cool antique machinery to see at this show.

West Coast Custom Cougars [S4 Ep.13-2]
Today on GEARZ, Stacey rolls the V8 Interceptor/ Cougar back into the shop and begins upgrading the rear end and rear suspension to handle all the massive power that has been stuffed under the hood. The parts are flyin' as in goes a custom 3-link torque arm suspension, a 9" Ford rear end, and a tubular sub-frame to prevent the car from flexing. 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible - $15,850
Nice looking senior owned 1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 Convertible. Gold on gold, powered by a 351 that was just rebuilt 5K ago. Overall miles are 108K. The transmission was rebuilt at the same time as the motor, it has a new carb, new electronic ignition, new dual Exhaust, new tires, new gas tank, steel spoke wheels, new suspension, new brake rotors, calipers, new wheel bearings, new tie rod ends, new ball joints, new top and brand new cylinders for the top, new bumpers and door handles and a new stereo, with an amplifier in the trunk. According to everything we can find, there were only 4,024 of these manufactured. This is a steel of a deal on a virtually new car, come get it fast everything's done—just drive and enjoy!

This is the story of Brian Aust and his 1968 Mercury Cougar 427 GT-E. Over the course of about 5 years, he undertook a painstaking restoration to bring the car to the highest level he could, with a little help from his friends (and lots of advice from folks on http://www.mercurycougar.net ). On January 22, 2011, he drove it onto the auction block at Barrett-Jackson, stepped out, and watched it sell for... well, you'll just have to watch to find out!

Bonneville SSEi vs '67 Cougar
My brother, dad and I were all heading to a local cruise in and by chance my dad and I lined up at the light. Dad never looked over at me so I wasn't sure, but usually he messes around for fun. My brother has the camera driving the '93 Bonneville SSE behind me. So the light turns green and I launched. I got to around 60-70mph and let off because I thought dad didn't get on it. Of course as soon as I let off I realized he was a'comin' quickly. But by then it would have only created problems had I got back on it since the road narrows to one lane and we would have got there at the same time, so I had to let him go. Turns out he was just fooling with me, letting me get out and then reeling me back in, however had I stayed on it, I would have still been ahead. So obviously in his eyes he won, I think I had him for where we were, but the Cougar is without a doubt much quicker, not denying that.
