WCCC Open House / Cruise / BBQ / Great Oregon Steam-Up 2011

Every year in August we have an open house at West Coast Classic Cougar. We are based just outside of Salem, Oregon, and have a wrecking yard full of 67-73 Cougars, and a warehouse full of new and used Cougar parts. It's a two-day event that usually takes place on a Friday and Saturday. On Friday, we have our open house and a small car show. Then in the evening, we cruise over to Silverton for a barbecue at our friend Brian's place in the middle of open farmland. Finally, on Saturday, we attend the Great Oregon Steam-Up at Antique Powerland, located close by our shop in Brooks. This year we had a reserved space for Cougars. There is an endless amount of cool antique machinery to see at this show. If this event sounds like fun to you, hop in your Cougar and we'll see you next year! 2014 CCOA Western Regionals - Oakley, CA
This show was the biggest gathering of classic Cougars in recent memory, with over 80 cars showing up. There were 4 GT-E's, 5 XR7-G's, and a whole lot of other beautiful cats. The venue, provided by Rob Crowder, was stunning. The weather was sunny. The cruise was fun. The event planning by Gavin Schlessinger was top notch. With the collaborative efforts of the Cougar Club Of America and the Mercury Stray Cats (of Northern CA) this became arguably one of the best Cougar shows of all time. Andrew was on the scene with cameras rolling to capture the stunning cars and great people who were there. 2016 Open House - West Coast Classic Cougar
The Open House event we hold every summer has become a lot more than the name suggests. It's really a car show, cruise, barbecue, tour, rally, bonding experience, tech workshop, and social gathering all rolled in to one weekend. This year, we stepped up our video coverage with a drone, and got some sweet aerial shots of the festivities. We also walked around and interviewed several people, while documenting the activities of the weekend. It was fun! If you were unable to attend, this video will at least give you a good idea of what it was like to be there. See you at the next one! Need Cougar parts? WCCC Open House 2014 - Cougar Show & Cruise
2014 marked the 25th anniversary of West Coast Classic Cougar, and we celebrated by inviting our customers to bring their Cougars out for a weekend of fun. On Friday, we had a show and open house on our grounds, which ended in an evening cruise to Silverton, OR for a barbecue and sunset photo shoots. Then on Saturday we gathered again and went for a drive through the countryside to a couple wineries near Dundee, OR, crossing the Willamette River on a ferry to get there. All in all, it was a great weekend of camaraderie and Cougars, and this video is only a glimpse of what it was like to be there.

The Story Of Cougar 1: The First Mercury Cougar
A while back, we sat down with Jim Pinkerton, the owner of the very first production Mercury Cougar (1967 model year), a.k.a. Cougar 1. We hit the "record" button on our cameras and he let loose with an epic tale of how the car was first sold in Canada, its subsequent life there, and how it eventually got into his hands - an intriguing story! He also goes over some of the unique features of the car, and some of the restoration techniques used. It's a truly beautiful factory show car with more attention to detail than the 'average' Cougar. Special thanks to Jim Pinkerton for his time, and for providing most of the images you see in this video from his own collection of Cougar memorabilia.
