CHICAGO (Feb. 8, 2013) -- A year ago Nissan launched a social media-directed Nissan 370Z build-up called "Project 370Z" at the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The idea was to capture the passion and knowledge of Nissan Z fans, online, to help direct the creation of a unique, one-off Nissan 370Z with readily available aftermarket parts and accessories.

The front end features a more aggressive design improving airflow under the car, leading to improved stability at higher speeds and through corners. This additional downforce is complemented by an extensively re-engineered suspension and chassis set-up, enhancing stability and dynamic handling on both road and track.
Other design enhancements include the distinctive Nismo red pinstripe lines visible at both the front and the rear and on the door mirrors. Unique dark grey Nismo superlight 19-inch forged alloy wheels with sports-derived red brake calipers and wider high performance tyres are also fitted. At the rear a smart new spoiler adds the finishing visual touch while also improving aero performance.
Inside, the already performance-oriented 370Z design is now more driver-focused than ever. The steering wheel is finished in alcantara and leather with a red race-inspired 'top dead centre' marker, as seen on the Juke Nismo. The sports seats are fully electric with special Nismo badging and red stitching for a premium and sporty detail. The finishing touch is a numbered Nismo plate adding exclusivity to each 370Z Nismo.
Thanks to Nismo tuning, the Z's 3.7-litre V6 engine delivers 344PS, up from 328PS in the standard car, while torque increases from 363Nm to 371Nm. The result is improved responsiveness across the low and mid rev range, and a 0-100km/h time of only 5.2 seconds (subject to homologation).
Already known for its exceptional dynamics and handling characteristics, the rear-wheel drive 370Z delivers an even more thrilling experience in Nismo form. Drivers will experience thrilling acceleration and the reassurance of exceptional high-speed stability.
Enhancing braking feel is also a crucial part of the Z's development, so Nismo engineers have adopted high rigidity brake hose and high performance brake fluid from the R35 GT-R. An exclusive Nismo dual Exhaust system also enhances and amplifies the thrilling sound of the Z's 3.7-litre V6 engine.

2013 NISSAN 370Z PREVIEWED AT CHICAGO AUTO SHOW -- NEW FRONT FASCIA AND NEW WHEELS LEAD ENHANCEMENTS
If it's February in Chicago, it's time for one thing -- sports cars. Bringing a taste of hot performance to the Windy City winter, Nissan today debuted the revised 2013 Nissan 370Z on the floor of the 2012 Chicago Auto Show. The new Z®, which is scheduled to go on sale at Nissan dealers nationwide next June, features a number of enhancements designed to keep the legendary sports car fresh and exciting. For 2013, the Nissan 370Z will once again be available in Coupe, Roadster and NISMO Z configurations.
The updates for the new model year include:
Refreshed front fascia with vertical LED daytime running lights
Red reflector added to rear fascia (replaces previous black center cover)
Revised 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels (Sport Package equipped models)
New 18-inch wheels for 370Z Coupe
Red-finished brake calipers (Sport Package equipped models)
Dark-finish fuel gauge trim
Euro-tuned shock absorbers (Sport Package equipped models)
And two new exterior colors -- Magma Red and Midnight Blue
The NISMO 370Z also adds a new Bose® Premium Audio Package with two additional speakers and two subwoofers, premium gun metallic dark-finish 19-inch wheels, and Nissan GT-R style high-rigidity brake hoses and performance brake fluid. The NISMO 370Z does not adopt the new front fascia/rear reflector, Euro-tuned shocks or Midnight Blue exterior color.
"Since the original 1970 Z® was first introduced our goal has always been to keep the design moving forward. The changes for 2013, though subtle, go a long way in enhancing its dynamic appearance inside and out," said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc.
As in 2012, the 2013 370Z Coupe and 370Z Coupe Touring will each be available with a standard 332-horsepower 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine and choice of 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed automatic transmission. The 2013 370Z Roadster and 370Z Roadster Touring will be offered with the same engine but with the 6-speed manual offered only with the Touring model (the 7-speed automatic transmission is available with both).
The Nissan NISMO 370Z, a tuner-Z® enthusiast's dream, will once again cap off the lineup -- offering racing-inspired exterior and interior styling, a specially tuned suspension and unique super-lightweight forged alloy wheels. Its 3.7-liter DOHC V6 engine is matched with an exclusive H-configured Exhaust system design, muffler tuning and optimized ECM (Engine Computer Module) control -- creating 350 horsepower and 276 lb-ft of torque. Only one transmission is available, a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with standard SynchroRev Match®, which allows rev-matched heel-toe-like downshifting.
Additional details on the 2013 Nissan 370Z will be available closer to the June on-sale date.

GTM 370Z 1000HP MAF CALIBRATIONN -ANOTHER MILE STONE
We would like to share a mile stone we've achieved regarding the stock ECU. Over the last few months we've been working on developing a way to overcome one of the limitations of the stock ECU when it comes to making big power. While Uprev enables the aftermarket to rewrite the stock ECU in the 370Z/G37, there have been a few hurdles to jump when pushing the envelope over 600whp. Since day one, we always kept in mind that people will only want more power. In anticipation, we chose to use 3" MAF piping in all of our turbo kits and the GTM Stage 2 Supercharger Kit. Doing that gives us more headroom when it comes to MAF Voltage. It's a mechanical calibration that allows us to get the factory MAF to read more airflow. Even at 600whp, the MAF voltage is getting up to 4.9 to 4.95 Volts. While this is still below the 5 Volt limit, it does not give us any headroom to compensate for changing atmospheric conditions (such as a cold morning). The next step was to find an aftermarket MAF sensor that can replace the factory Nissan unit with the same physical dimensions and connector. Of course, that was the easy part. The challenging part is to produce a good calibration that contains a linear MAF curve so we can get the best resolution and still plenty of headroom for more horsepower while retaining factory drivability. This development translates into having a 1000hp car that starts up every time and can be driven normally on the street.
Ultimately, this has greatly expanded the capabilities of the factory ECU to the level of performance commonly relegated to a standalone EMS. While some standalone EMS options may have some additional features that set it apart, we've really narrowed the gap here.
To close the gap altogether, we are working on developing a system that will enable us to retard ignition timing in response to knock as well as Boost cut. Once that is developed, there will be no reason for a standalone EMS in this platform.

Nissan is unveiling the racing-inspired 2014 370Z NISMO sports coupe at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show.
The new 370Z has a 350-horsepower, 3.7-liter V-6 paired with a six-speed manual transmission, the only transmission offered. A new dark gray coloring has been added to the front and rear ends, lower side sills, side mirrors and rear spoiler, in addition to red pinstripe accents.
