Shelby Dodge Tribute
This is a short video dedicated to the forgotten Shelby cars and their turbocharged Mopar siblings.
The photos were taken by me at the annual SDAC convention, that was held in
Chicagoland this year.

Note: The beginning dialogue is Shelby talking about a Supercharged
Charger; I couldn't seem to find some useable audio that pertained to the
use of the turbochargers in the numbered
cars that followed... But it still has its merits.

1984 DODGE SHELBY CHARGER -- ANOTHER RARE SHELBY CREATION
For 1983, Carroll Shelby modified the Dodge Charger, to be sold at Dodge
dealers as the Dodge Shelby Charger. Rather than focusing on speed, Shelby
modified the suspension and styling. The engine compression was raised for
107 hp, and the manual transmission had revised ratios. Shorter springs,
special wheels, and tires complemented stronger brakes and quicker
steering. Outside, a new nose and racing stripes accented the performance
image. The body kits, among other parts, were often shipped to dealerships
along with the car to be put on after delivery. The reasoning behind this
varied, but was said to speed delivery and compensate for ground clearance
issues that the cars faced on many car carriers. Production was 8,251 for
that first year.
For 1984, the Shelby Charger could be ordered with an optional automatic
transmission. There were 7,552 Shelby Chargers sold this model year. The
high-output engine, now up to 110 hp was also available in baseline
Chargers and Turismos. The MPFI/turbocharged turbo I engine, commonly known as a 'T1' was added
for Dodge's 1985 Shelby Charger. This engine produced 146 hp and was
changed from its first appearance in the Dodge Daytona turbo during the previous year. A Garrett
AiResearch T3 turbocharger and
Chrysler/Bosch multiple-point fuel injection enabled the 2.2 L engine to
produce the additional horsepower. A total of
7,709 Shelby Chargers were made for the 1985 model year, and 7,669 in 1986.
1987 was the final year, with just 1,011 produced. How many of these
Shelby creations exist today? Most likely just several hundred of all the
years these were made. Always a pleasure to see a rare car especially in

Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe - Lovely Exhaust Sounds!
This video shows an extremely rare and original 1964 Shelby Daytona Cobra
Coupe, only six Daytona original coupes were ever built between 1964 and
1965. In 2009 a Daytona Coupe (chassisnumber CSX2601) was sold for
$7.25million US dollars, with such a ridiculous value it's even more
incredible to see one being driven very fast around track!

Carroll Shelby Goes Racing
Ford provided Carroll Shelby with an engine for his start up sports car
company and AC supplied the bodies. Shelby hired a bunch of hot rod
builders in California and they created the Cobra.
Soon Ford turned to Shelby to beef up the Mustang and turn it into a Corvette
beater. The GT 350 was born.
But there was more. Henry Ford II had tried to buy Ferrari and was
spurned. Not one who was used to losing he decided to beat Enzo Ferrari on
the track. After Ford's first forays stalled they turned to Shelby to beef
up the GT 40s and take on Ferrari.
Pete Brock, Ken Miles and Dan Gurney put the cars through their paces.

On October 3,2010 with a 30km headwind at Gimli Dragway, Rob McLellan ran a
10.89 at 135 miles per hour in his Dodge Shelby Charger.
