Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid drives - first real video
This past Thursday, the Porsche 918 Spyder Hybrid made its driving debut on
a closed road in Monterey California, just days prior to its appearance at
the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.
After being shipped over from Germany by plane, engineers handed the keys
of the new 918 Spyder Hybrid to Porsche AG Design Chief Michael Mauer. The
car drove under its own power which comes from the mid mounted 3.4 liter V8
out of the RS Spyder as well as in all electric mode which powers just the
The 918 Spyder prototype combines high-tech racing features and
electro-mobility to offer a fascinating range of qualities: An emission
level of just 70 grams CO2 per kilometre on fuel consumption of three
litres/100 kilometres (equal to 94 mpg imp) truly outstanding even for an
ultra-compact city car, on the one hand, combined with the performance of a
super sports car and acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h (62 mph) in
just under 3.2 seconds, top speed of 320 km/h (198 mph) plus, and a lap
time on the Nordschleife of Nürburgring in less than 7:30 minutes, faster than even the Porsche Carrera GT,
on the other.
2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS facelift
Designed to be the ultimate rear-wheel drive sports car, the RS features a
modified version of the GT3's 3.8-liter boxer engine. Peak output climbs to
450 hp, which is 15 hp more than the standard GT3. Backed up by a
short-throw six-speed manual transmission, the new 911 GT3 RS should
accelerate from 0-100 km/h in four seconds, before hitting a top speed in
excess of 314 km/h (195 mph).
BMW ring Taxi vs Porsche 911 on the Nurburgring (The Nordschleife!)
This is the best race track in the world. The Nordschleife!
This is the one were every bike on the track gets in the way of the cars,
but to be fair it isn't a race, and the bikers are only there sight seeing
not to ride fast. This video is from 2007, BMW M5 vs Porsche 911 (the
passenger is a biker and has just been riding round the track, now he goes
in the Porsche, several times he says how 'incredible' the car is he even
points out how much the bikes slow the cars down drastically especially
after the bus, listen to him, the bikers think they are going fast!)
People can make excuses for the riders in this video, which is fine, but
at the end of the day it's a video about cars not bikes, and for those
saying it isn't Sabine, IT IS Sabine driving the BMW! it is the old M5 with
I meant, it's easier to ride a bike than drive a car, to learn at least.
Not to take anything away from the bike riders, it takes skill, lots of
skill and balls of course, or stupidity, which ever you like. No I wont
ride a bike at these kinds of speeds, I like being alive, yes I will drive
a car at these speeds, it feels safe, even if it isn't!
Ferrari 458 Italia vs Ducati 1198S - Forza Italia!
Which is faster? Motorcycle or
car? We take these two Italian speed machines to the drag strip and the
race track to find out.
