Lamborghini Aventador vs McLaren MP4-12C Drag Racing 1/4 Mile Launch Control

January 27th, 2014

McLaren-MP4-12C-vs-Lamborghini-AventadorWe’ve got some heads up runs from the StreetCarDrags.com event at Palm Beach International Raceway of the ADV.1 Lamborghini Aventador vs the DragTimes.com McLaren MP4-12C.

The Aventador is powered by a 6.5L V12 pushing 691 horsepower through a 7 speed ISR transmission weighing in at 4,020 pounds on the track scale (without driver).  The MP4-12C is powered by a Twin Turbocharged 3.8L V8  making 616 horsepower through a 7 speed SSG (DCT) transmission and weighed in at 3,115 pounds (without driver).

It’s an interesting match up with the power to weight ratio in favor of the McLaren (5.05 pounds per HP) vs the Lamborghini (5.81 pounds per HP), assuming each is making their advertised power numbers.  In addition, the Aventador has AWD while the MP4-12C is RWD.  Both cars were using their launch control systems with the Aventador leaving at 5k RPM and the MP4-12C leaving at just 3,200 RPM.

Race 1: MP4-12C: 10.42 @ 135.69 vs Aventador: 11.26 @ 129.53
Race 2: MP4-12C: 10.50 @ 133.95 vs Aventador: 11.14 @ 129.73

Earlier in the day the McLaren MP4-12C set a new McLaren record at 10.27 @ 135.55 MPH.
