Koenigsegg One:1 Drag Racing @ 225 MPH

May 26th, 2015

One 1 sideThe Koenigsegg One:1 (pronounced one-to-one) is referred to as a “mega-car” instead of a supercar. In this clip, from the VMAX 200 Hypermax event near London, England, you will observe it taking on supercars from all over the globe and winning at speeds of around 225 mph. While it is not the quickest from the line, its winning power-to-weight-ratio eventually overcomes most competitors near the quarter-mile mark.

As the name implies, this mega-car is the only production car in existence to boast one megawatt of horsepower. A megawatt of power indicates that the One:1 produces one pferdestarke (.986 hp) per kilogram of vehicle curb weight. That is 1,360-kilos (3,100-pounds) and 1,360-pferdestarke (1,340-horsepower).

This level of extreme power is produced using a 5.0-liter twin-turbocharged (and intercooled) aluminum V8 engine mated to a 7-speed automated manual gearbox. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 2.5-seconds and has a top speed of 273 mph. The price? Around $2.8-million U.S.
