Porsche 991 Turbo S left behind by the McLaren MP4-12C in an all out drag race to 196 MPH

November 27th, 2013

Drive has a video comparison of the brand new Porsche 991 Turbo S going heads up agains the McLaren MP4-12C Spider, both on the track and an all out drag race up to 196 MPH.   The results are pretty much what we expected after seeing the dyno results of the 991 Turbo S last week in which it only made a few more horsepower than the outgoing 997.2 Turbo S. While the 911 Turbo S got a nice jump ahead from the start due to it’s awesome AWD and launch control, the MP4-12C reeled in the gap quickly, easily passing Read More

McLaren MP4-12C walks a Lamborghini Aventador in 1/2 Mile Race

November 27th, 2013

The title says it all, we came across this video of a McLaren MP4-12C walking by a Lamborghini Aventador in 1/2 Mile Race down an airstrip.   While the numbers on paper (horsepower to weight ratios) have always favored the lighter MP4-12C vs the Aventador  this is the first time we’ve seen the two in action side by side with a good camera view. From what looks like a 20 MPH roll all the way up to around 170 MPH at the 1/2 mile mark the McLaren has around a 3 car lead. For reference we ran 10.5 @ 134.5 MPH Read More

November 22nd, 2013

Champion motorsports got their hands on a brand new 2014 Porsche 991 911 Turbo S to use a development car and brought it over to the dyno to see what kind of power the new Turbo S is making.  On a Mustang Dyno over at HP Logic, the 991 Turbo S made 486 horsepower and 456 ft-lbs of torque through it’s 7 speed PDK transmission at all 4 wheels.  The new Turbo S is rated at 560 HP from Porsche and the dyno numbers line up pretty well with the rated output. This isn’t an overly impressive number for the new Read More

2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo, Larger Turbos and 595 horsepower

November 18th, 2013

Information on the upcoming 2015 Nissan GT-R Nismo has leaked out and while the specs look great, the pricing might have gone a bit out of control.  Power from the 3.8L V6 Twin Turbo has been increased to 595 horsepower and 480 ft-lbs of torque due to larger turbochargers, a revised intake manifold along with an updated exhaust system.  The only performance spec to be leaked so far is the Nürburgring  time of  just 7:08. Our last test of the 2013 Nissan GT-R with 545 horsepower resulted in 0-60 in 2.7 seconds and a 1/4 mile time of 10.87 @ 125 MPH. Read More
