Porsche 991 Turbo S left behind by the McLaren MP4-12C in an all out drag race to 196 MPH

November 27th, 2013

991-turbos-vs-mclaren-mp4-12cDrive has a video comparison of the brand new Porsche 991 Turbo S going heads up agains the McLaren MP4-12C Spider, both on the track and an all out drag race up to 196 MPH.   The results are pretty much what we expected after seeing the dyno results of the 991 Turbo S last week in which it only made a few more horsepower than the outgoing 997.2 Turbo S.

While the 911 Turbo S got a nice jump ahead from the start due to it’s awesome AWD and launch control, the MP4-12C reeled in the gap quickly, easily passing the Turbo S leaving it quite a few car lengths behind before letting off at 196 MPH.  We should also note that the MP4-12C used in this test was a Spider which adds around 90 pounds to the car.

The McLaren MP4-12C has proven itself again to be one of the quickest and fastest production cars in the world behind only cars that cost in the millions.  3,000 pounds, mid-engine, 616HP and a 7 speed DCT is proving very hard to beat.
