1969 Plymouth Roid Runner – Million-Dollar Mopar Restomod

October 18th, 2023

Despite being registered as a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner, this million-dollar restomod is built totally from one-of-a-kind body panels. Keep in mind, as your eyes crawl across this amazing work of art, that every single body panel began life as a piece of flat sheet metal. Even the roof is custom tailored to this car. Only the grille retains its stock shape. It’s a labor of love that’s eight-years in the making – and it still ain’t finished.

Making this thing go is a 392 HEMI V8 engine. Upgrades include Dart cylinder heads, a Bullet Racing camshaft and an Eagle rotating assembly. The blower is a 2.9-liter Whipple. Engine performance is largely untested, but maximum output is estimated at 550-600whp. Exhaust gases are spirited away with 4-inch oval pipes and Spin Tech mufflers. The transmission is a Tremec T-56 6-speed manual. Out back, we have a nodular 9-inch Ford with billet internals. Again, every component underneath – and the floor pan – is painted, cut and buffed to perfection.

Stopping duties are handled with Wilwood (manual) front and rear disc brakes (6 piston calipers with 14-inch rotors). Budnik wheels adorn all four corners.

The interior is unexpectedly modern and features top tier components like Italian leather, wireless phone charging and a telescoping steering column. Get this: all the interior panels are handmade from wood. No plastic was used on the interior.

Just a short test drive for this one. Enjoy.
