Smog Test 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula 350
I am always having to smog my car for registration renewal. Even though it has never failed a smog test. California is just a major pain in the ass when it comes to auto rules and reg's. When I purchased this car, the law at that time was that when a car reached 15 years of age, it was exempted from further smog checks. But, in the early 2000's the law was changed by liberal Kalifornia Demoncrats to any car made after 1975 would have to be smogged in perpetuity. Godamn politician's!

3rd Gen Firebird Formula (WS6/G92) 383 Stroker - 5.0 Tuned Port 5-speed
This WS6/G92 Firebird Formula has spent 99% of it's entire life as a race car... originally I shot this car back in 2006, the year it won the Camaro-Mustang Challenge (CMC) series championship with it's stock 213hp-(at rear wheels) 5.0 Tuned Port Injection... then I managed to catch up with the present owner a few years later to find out it's now sporting a 383 Stroker and running in the American Iron series. I must say that as cool as a big-cube 383 Stroker is, I am a bit sad to see the original 5.0-liter TPI platform replaced. With the original NASA-CMC class horsepower limit of 230rwhp recently being raised, we are seeing these old 3rd Gen 5.0-liter Tuned Port cars disappearing from CMC competition... ...anyway, I just love these cars, and personally am absolutely drawn to these era cars, as the first late-model F-body that I owned was a 1987 Formula Firebird way back in 1992, lol... so these Formula models are extremely close to my heart... as all '80s Tuned Port Injected Camaro IROC-Z and 5.0 Mustang (Foxbody) models are as well... 1987 Firebird Formula 350 in showroom condition
In 1987 there were a total of 88,613 Firebirds built by Pontiac. Of those, 13,164 were Formulas, so less than 15% of total production. Only a very small percentage of Formulas had the 5.7 liter L98 350 engine and 700R4 automatic transmission, which is the same power drive train as the 1987 Corvette. Factory rated at 230 horsepower and 330 ft/lbs of torque. This car has brought back to look just like it did when it rolled off the assembly line for delivery to a new car dealership. Not many of these 23+ year old cars are still on the road, and this is the first year of the 3rd generation Formula with the top engine option, so it's pretty unique. Still verifying the official production numbers Firebird 350 models from the Pontiac Historical Society. I ordered the original invoice and window sticker, which shows a "retail" price of $16,137.00. Thanks for looking!
