HL6 Grille and Surface Mount LED Emergency Vehicle Light
In this video, viewers can watch as Mike, our personal emergency vehicle
lighting installation expert, installs HL6 Grille and Surface Mount LED
Emergency Vehicle Lights on our 2013 Dodge Charger demo vehicle. Mike has
chosen to install the grille lights, which are popular police lights,
around the license plate of the Charger. Doing this helps illuminate the
rear of the vehicle, which can be influential in reducing the risk of
Step 1: Mike Drills Holes around the License Plate
As you can see in the video, Mike drills one hole on each side of the
license plate for the grille lights. Before, our installer drilled the
holes, he checked to make sure the holes were even. This is a critical step
because once you have drilled the holes, it can be nearly impossible to
Step 2: Begin Feeding the Wire through the Holes
Once the holes are drilled and Mike is sure the holes are even, he begins
feeding the HL6 wire through the holes and checks the placement of the
lights on the Charger.
Step 3: Preparing the Lights for Final Installation
After placement has been checked, it is time to prepare the grille lights
for permanent installation. This includes hardwiring the lights,
cauterizing the wires, to ensure the wires won't come loose, and covering
the wires with electrical tape. For more details about this product, check
out the video (0:31).
Hot Installation Tip: Once the wires have been covered with electrical
tape, make sure to heat the tape up, just like Mike does in the video.
Heating up the tape will ensure the tape will not come loose. However, it
is important to not overdo it, or you could end up repeating the entire
process all over again.
Step 4: Lights are Ready for Permanent Installation
At this point, the surface mount lights are ready for permanent
installation on the vehicle. To see Mike complete this process, check out
the video (0:59). When preparing the light to be placed against the surface
of the vehicle, don't place the cover over the light until the wire is
nearly completely feed through the drill holes.
Once the wire is feed through and the light housing is placed over the
light, Mike is ready to install the light. To do this, he drills the light
until it is tight against the body of the vehicle. It is important that the
HL6 is screwed tightly to the body, so that it will not come loose during
heavy duty use.
Step 5: Connect Wires to Switchbox
Our Charger's switchbox is located conveniently in the trunk. To see Mike
connect the wires of the grille lights to the control box, tune in at
(1:16). While watching the video, viewers can see that Mike takes his time
carefully placing the wires around the swtichbox. In fact, he periodically
stops to tie the wires together, so that the equipment is easier to store
and deal with if needed.
Step 6: HL6 Grille and Surface Mount LED Emergency Vehicle Lights are Ready
Voila! That's it, the grille and surface mount lights are ready to go.
Installation Tips from our Resident Expert:
If you have never completed this type of installation before, you are
probably thinking "that looks easy enough." While it is true that these
warning lights are easy to install, it does take a bit of experience and
elbow grease to make it as easy as Mike makes it look in the videos.
However, there are a few tips that viewers should keep in mind to make sure
their installation goes smoothly.
1. Inspect all equipment as soon as it arrives and familiarize yourself
with the components.
2. Locate the manufacturer instructions and read through them before
beginning the installation.
3. Check all holes before drilling, and then double check.
4. Remember that your installation could vary from ours.

Mount LED Emergency Vehicle Lights, or any of our other products, please
