SUBTLE Wins Pro Street Blown at the Street Machine Nationals

It may be SUBTLE by name but Jeremy Callaghan's twin turbo Torana is anything but subtle. Even though it's not the quickest car in the class the Torana swept all before it during the Chicago Shootout in Pro Street Blown at the Street Machine Nationals and then defeeated the Perko Torana in the finals. A solid win from a very cool looking car

1000HP Ratrod Pick-up Fries the Tyres And Transmission
It's been a while since we've seen Denis Maloney's RatRod Dodge puick-up at a competition and that's because it was getting this new beast of an engine. Denis has just fitted this 1000hp+ 410ci Chrysler small block, complete with methanol injection. It's a crazy beast and more than a little scary. Halfway through the burnout you could tell the auto wasn't really happy and the back wheels weren't spinning they way they should have been, then the flames started and while I haven't confirmed this, I wouldn't be surprised if it was trans fluid causing the fire. Hopefully he'll get it all sorted soon.

Best Wheels Up Launches From Street Machine Nationals
Wheels up action, we all love it. So we've picked out the best launches from the recent Street Machine Nationals and thrown them together for your viewing pleasure.

KRANKY Burns Down Kandos
We've seen plenty of burnouts end with a fire but we've never seen one start with a fire. Rodney Waters HQ sedan goes up in flames right from the start at Kandos. It's crazy insane.

Blown Nova Goes 6.39 on 10.5 tyres
Frank Mamone's blown Chevy Nova is a wicked looking beast and it's got plenty of grunt to match. Lately he's been racing the Hemi powered Nova inn the 10.5 class and with some success too. He won at Sydney Dragway recent at the APSA Pro Street Shootout.

WTOFIT - Crazy Rotary Powered Van Burnout
We popped in to the Good Fryday Burnout at Sydney Dragway to check out the action and found this totally insane little rotary powered Suzuki van ripping a few skids. Check out that glowing Exhaust. We've seen a few hot systems in our time but never one that glowed so brightly.

Car's differential explodes on the startline
This supercharged Torana blows its diff in spectacular fashion during Supernats at WSID in Sydney Australia.

TRYHRD Hits The Track
Craig Munro's TRYHRD HSV R8 has seen the highs and lows of the performance scene. After years of different combinations and he finally won HP Heroes with over 1200hp at Summernats 19, but set fire to it at the same time. Then he came back and won it again two years later with over 1890rwhp. But now Craig's decided to finally hit the track with the beast and even with soft launches this thing is a weapon. Sheck out the 60-foot time on the last run, and it still runs a 9.9 at 156mph. The car actually ran 9.4 at 160mph+ but we didn't get that run on tape.

SUBTLE Twin Turbo Torana Run Sixes
When we first saw SUBTLE it was wearing two high mount turbos on a small block Chev. It was plenty fast but the owner Jeremy Callaghan wanted more. So now the turbos are mounted lower and there a Dandy Engines built 622ci big block up front. Oh yeah - it's fast.

Flaming Wheelstander Lights Up Gazzanats
The Aussie Bandit has no trouble lifting the front wheels thanks to a blown big block chev in the back. A few flames erupting from the rear end on the way back just adds to the spectacle.

Drift Camaro - How To Enjoy a Blown Big Block Chev!
Half burnout - half drift session, this awesome display shows how much fun a blown big block Camaro can be. Peter Gray is the pilot and he's not shy in throwing the black beast around the old Springnats skid pan.

STAUNCH Torana - 632ci Nitrous Big Block
It was all action at the Street Machine Nationals and Johnny Wilson's Nitrous injected Torana was just one of many that ran personal bests at Sydney Dragway. The car runs a 632ci big block Chev with a 500hp direct port Nitrous system and ran a best of 7.46 at 191mph. i'm pretty sure that makes the second fastest Nitrous car in Australia.

Jake Edwards, turbocharged Torana
Jake's single turbo Torana is legendary in Australia. His ability to crank out big horsepower numbers from relatively simple combinations defies belief. It's an awesome sounding car as well. Not sure of the specs when this video was shot because he's had several motors, but it's a Holden V8 between 308 and 393ci with a large Holset single turbo.

TUFFST - Hauling Smoke
Wagons are great family trucksters and they make great cruisers too when built right but Phil Kerjean has one of the few wagons in the country that's built to burn rubber. Unfortunately we haven't seen the wagon out and about since this skid, Phil's working on getting it right again and hopefully we'll see it smoking it up once more. C'mon Phil!

Perry Bullivant's Twin Turbo Torana
At Winton last year we saw Perry Bullivant decimate the competition in the Powerskid category. But back then he was running 434 cubes and a Vortech blower. Now he's packing something really special and although it was brand new and just running 10psi Boost, Perry's new 406ci twin turbo combination had everyone talking. It looks great and sounds awesome and it makes some power as well and with 650rwhp it has to be making around 850hp at the crank. Imagine what it's going to do when he pumps 20psi Boost into it?

Blast From The Past - 1BADTD V8 Gemini at Easternats
Who would have thought that you could get so much smoke out an old Holden Gemini? Phil Youlten's legendary 1BADTD is freaking burnout weapon and it always put on a strong show where ever it went. This was from Easternats at Sandown back in 2006, I've just dug it out of the archives because it was such a killer skid. Enjoy.
