2017 Kia Cadenza - Crash Test
Redesigned Kia Cadenza earns Top Safety Pick+ award ARLINGTON, Va. — The 2017 Kia Cadenza, a large car, earns the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety's highest award, thanks to good crashworthiness ratings, a superior-rated front crash prevention system and acceptable headlights. The redesigned model was the first Cadenza to be tested by IIHS for small overlap front protection. In the test, which replicates what happens when the front driver-side corner of a vehicle collides with another vehicle or an object, the driver space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of 4 inches at the parking brake pedal. The airbags and safety belt worked well together to control the dummy's movement, and measures taken from the dummy showed a low risk of significant injuries. The Cadenza earns a good rating in the small overlap front test, as well in the moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. The car's optional front crash prevention system avoided collisions in IIHS track tests at 25 mph and 12 mph. It also has a forward collision warning component that meets National Highway Traffic Safety Administration criteria. The LED lights that come with the Limited and Technology trims earn an acceptable headlight rating, with fair to good visibility in all scenarios. The halogen lights that come with the Premium trim earn a poor rating. To earn the 2017 Top Safety Pick+ award, a vehicle must have good ratings in all five crashworthiness tests, an available front crash prevention system with an advanced or superior rating, and headlights that earn an acceptable or good rating. The Kia Cadenza was redesigned for the 2017 model year. Structure The driver space was maintained well, with maximum intrusion of the lower interior of 10 cm at the parking brake pedal. Upper interior intrusion measured 4 cm at the upper hinge pillar and instrument panel. Injury measures Measures taken from the dummy indicate a low risk of any significant injuries in a crash of this severity. Restraints and dummy kinematics The dummy’s movement was well controlled. The dummy’s head loaded the frontal airbag, which stayed in front of the dummy until rebound. The side curtain airbag deployed and has sufficient forward coverage to protect the head from contact with side structure and outside objects. The side torso airbag also deployed. 2018 Ford Expedition Vs Chevy Suburban
Most capable Expedition ever Powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine with standard Auto Start-Stop plus a class-exclusive new 10-speed automatic transmission, the all-new Expedition is the most powerful Expedition ever. A newly available electronic limited-slip differential on models with Intelligent 4WD enables improved off-road capability by sending power where it’s needed. More than 50 percent of Expedition customers value towing, and 15 percent tow weekly or monthly. That’s why the all-new Expedition offers Pro Trailer Backup Assist, which makes backing up a trailer as easy as turning a knob. Plus, an available hands-free liftgate makes loading cargo easy. Most adaptable Expedition ever The all-new Expedition has a roomy, flexible interior. With seating for up to eight people and their gear, this full-size SUV makes modern family adventures more comfortable during short and long trips alike. The all-new Expedition is the first full-size utility to feature a sliding second-row seat with tip-and-slide functionality, providing easy access to the third row without the need to first remove a child safety seat. Once in the third row, even adults will appreciate more legroom and reclining seats. Expedition’s second- and third-row seats can be quickly folded flat with the push of a button to open up a cargo area wide enough to handle 4x8-foot sheets of plywood and other gear, depending on cargo weight and load distribution, even with the liftgate closed. Even the drive is more adaptable, with Expedition’s all-new Terrain Management System that lets customers choose between drive modes for optimal vehicle handling in different conditions. This includes normal for around-town driving, sport for more spirited trips, tow/haul for improved towing and hauling performance, eco for enhanced fuel economy, grass/gravel/snow for loose terrain, sand for low traction situations, and mud/rut for uneven surfaces. In addition, an all-new high-strength, aluminum-alloy body and redesigned high-strength steel frame form the foundation for Expedition’s rugged off-road and strong towing capabilities. Thanks to the use of advanced materials, the all-new Expedition saves up to 300 pounds, and the team reinvested that weight savings everywhere it counts to give customers more technology and convenience features than ever before. More than 40 features and driver-assist technologies new to Expedition help make the journey as enjoyable as the destination. These include class-exclusive enhanced active park assist to easily pull in and out of parking spots, as well as available 360-degree camera technology to help customers see more around their Expedition for easier parking. Exterior highlights Refined and precisely sculpted, Suburban’s exterior design showcases inlaid doors that fit into the body side openings instead of over the top of the body, significantly improving the quietness of the interior cabin and contributing to improved aerodynamics. This helps the vehicle slip through the air on the highway with less drag, for greater efficiency. Lightweight aluminum hood and liftgate panels also enhance efficiency through reduced overall mass. Projector-beam headlamps flank the Chevrolet-signature dual-port grille - chrome on all models - and sweep into the front fenders. High-intensity discharge headlamps and light-emitting diode daytime running lamps are included on LTZ, along with an exclusive chrome grille surround. The LTZ model features more bright trim on the fascias, grille, body sides, mirror caps and more. It also offers power-retractable and illuminated side steps. Aside from the two new colors, Siren Red Tintcoat and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, other options for 2016 are: Sable Metallic, Silver Ice, Black, Summit White, Champagne Silver Metallic, Tungsten Metallic and Brownstone.
