The new Toyota Fortuner is in most ways better than the 2011 variant in all aspects but one - the design from the front. It is a little too tame, we feel. Keep that aside, and the Fortuner 4x4 for 2012 is clearly a more sophisticated, cooler car in almost all respects.
here we take the new Toyota Fortuner over some really rough terrain testing out its off road capabilities. we also drive it on tarmac - of course! - to see if it is suitable for those who go off road very rarely.

The Ford Endeavour was the king of the Indian SUV market till the Toyota Fortuner came along. The Ford Endeavour 4x4 AT is the most expensive of the endeavour range. It is quite a capable SUV on road or offroad, as you can clearly see in this video review.
Should you buy it? Well, if you think everyone has a Fortuner, you should. If you think the traditional looks of the Ford Endeavour is better than that of the Fortuner, then yes. If you want a hassle free SUV that can do some serious offroading but happily putter along in the city in AT mode, then yes.
But if most of your driving is in the city, and you just need a vehicle big enough to cart around 7 people, then you should look at other options such as the Tata Aria.

The Ford Endeavour is an SUV, while the Tata Aria is an MPV. So does it make sense to compare the two?
Well, it does. The Indian car buyer does not always differentiate between the two, and the primary objective of the SUV buyer is to car around 7 people - something he shares with the Indian MPV buyer. But he also wants the macho image that an SUV offers. The Tata Aria offers itself to these buyers with the proposition that it is cheaper, it is also 4x4, has deent ground clearance, and has more features and creature comforts than the Ford Endeavour. The combination of factors, Tata hopes, will tilt the scales in its favour.
We find that there is some substance to the claims of Tata Aria in this video comparison. Sure, if you want extreme SUV and offroading capabilities, you will need the Endeavour, and for image. But if most of your driving is on roads and you would take the vehicle off road only occasionally, you should take a close look at the Tata Aria.

If space and fuel efficiency are what you are looking for, then the Toyota Etios VXD is the car for you. If comfort (as in good sound insulation and no vibrations) is what you want, probably not.

The car does its job as a A to B sedan - and makes sense that way. But interiors are a bare basic affair, and if you want to feel good about your car, the etios diesel wont do the job.
