NASCAR Racing at Irwindale Speedway: Back To Front
Irwindale CA, Sep 28 2013 - It's great to have NASCAR back in Southern
California. The Whelen All-American Series is the reason for being --
Irwindale Event Center being a reasoned locale. Having started in March,
with 2 races left in the season and everything still up for grabs it's now
or never to make it happen.
NASCAR is racing for all folks, all ages and all types. At the on-track
autograph session Rodney "the Rodent" Peacher recalled how he bought his
way into racing with $400, no motor or transmission or any real idea what
he was doing. His signature Rodent mascot has finally made it to vinyl on
the hood [the stuffed rat kept blowing off during the race:)].
The Lucas Oil sponsored Late Models division offered drama for the
occasion. Season points leader Ryan Partridge had a vested interest in
remaining so -- against Toni McCray's hard charging desire to supplant the
leader. Each starting back in the pack (Ryan 6th), they both blew past the
pack; Ryan down low, Toni a little higher. Turns out a 1-2 finish -- watch
the video to see whom is which.
Save one pileup into the tires on turn one, the teams and drivers delivered
without compromise. Now with 1 night of races to decide, it's time for a
special delivery. Final races start 7 pm Saturday October 5 2013.
