2007 VW Passat 2.0 TDI 4MOTION 4x4 Comfortline Review,Start Up, Engine, and In Depth Tour
For more in depth reviews check my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/avtomobil... Filmed by: Tomaž Kožar Jesenice The Volkswagen Passat has long been a favorite among shoppers looking for a little more luxury and style in their midsize family sedan or wagon. For many folks, the Passat fills the gap that exists between normal, humdrum family cars and the financially out-of-reach luxury brands. Displaying a classy, restrained style inside and out, the Volkswagen Passat gives the impression of quiet competence, which is borne out by its refined driving character. Spirited performance and competent handling, along with a supple ride, are typical Passat traits. Often regarded as a gateway vehicle for German luxury car fans who can't yet swing one of the country's premium nameplates, the VW Passat has enough in its favor to warrant consideration even from those with deeper pockets. This is certainly true of the most recent third-generation model and the earlier second-generation Passat. The first-gen car, due to its quirky design and questionable reliability, isn't as well regarded. An all-new, fourth-generation Volkswagen Passat will debut for the 2012 model year. It will be the biggest Passat yet and will be priced considerably lower than before to more closely compete with mainstream family sedans. Most Recent Volkswagen Passat The most recent, third-generation Passat was produced from 2006-'10 in sedan and wagon body styles. It was larger than the car it replaced and Volkswagen made an effort to move it upscale, increasing feature content and price. Perhaps as a result, this Passat wasn't as popular as previous versions, but generous passenger space, a high-quality cabin and strong engines should make it a good pick. The standard engine for this third-generation Passat was a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produced 200 horsepower and 207 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual transmission was standard and a six-speed automatic was optional. From 2006-'08 a narrow-angle V6 known as the VR6 was optional. This engine pumped out 280 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque, and it could be had with all-wheel drive in the 3.6 4Motion trim. An automatic transmission was standard for the V6. There were initially four trim levels -- Value Edition, 2.0T, 3.6 and 3.6 4Motion. Even though the lower trims had steel wheels, other desirable features like a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, an auxiliary audio jack and high-quality leatherette vinyl upholstery were standard. The upper trims could be had with luxury features like adaptive xenon headlights, automatic dual-zone climate control and 12-way power front seats. The short-lived Wolfsburg trim level in 2007 added some extra luxuries and visual distinction to the 2.0T model. For the 2008 model year, the trim levels were renamed turbo, Komfort, Lux and VR6. For the final two years, Volkswagen dropped the V6, reduced the Passat to just a single (Komfort) trim level and discontinued most of the car's upscale features. A new hard-drive-based navigation system did become available, howeverOverall, our road tests of the time had good things to say about this generation of Volkswagen Passat, from the high quality of its fit and finish to the engaging yet fuel-efficient performance of the turbocharged engine. Tuned more for ride comfort than clipping apexes on a twisty road, the Passat's suspension nonetheless struck a happy balance between a plush ride and athletic handling dynamics. Past Volkswagen Passat Models The second-generation VW Passat was available from 1998-2005. It was a little smaller than the third-generation Passat but was very popular thanks to its tasteful styling, peppy performance and solid Germanic feel. Based on a stretched version of the Audi A4 platform of its day, this Passat offered an unusually upscale feel. From the way the doors shut to the way the car absorbed bumps without drama and confidently carved its way along a winding road, this Passat was one midsize sedan or wagon that was actually desirable. This certainly had an effect on our editors; both the sedan and wagon were Edmunds.com Editors Most Wanted award winners for five straight years, from 2000-'04.Engine choices included a 1.8-liter turbocharged four called the 1.8T that made up to 170 hp, a silken 190-hp V6 and a short-lived 270-hp eight-cylinder W8. Equipped with the W8, the Passat grew too heavy and expensive to have widespread appeal. During most of the car's run, VW offered 4Motion all-wheel drive as an option on V6 models (it was standard on W8 models). A frugal 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine called the TDI became available in 2004. For used-car shoppers, any Passat should be fine, but those built for 2002 and later are the best choices as they received updated powertrains and beneficial chassis improvements.

2005 VW Passat Variant 2.5 V6 TDI Highline Full Review,Start Up, Engine, and In Depth Tour
For more in depth reviews check my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/avtomobil... 2002 Volkswagen Passat (Photo: Volkswagen Canada) Volkswagen Passat is a premium family car available as a sedan or wagon. The Passat offers excellent handling, very comfortable quiet ride, good-quality classy interior and variety of available engines. On the downside, the Passat is expensive to keep and reliability is questionable. Available as front- or all-wheel drive (4Motion), the 1998-2005 Volkswagen Passat shares its platform with Audi A4. The Passat has longitudinally-mounted engine and comes with manual or automatic transmission. The Passat's main engine choices are the 4-cylinder 1.8L-turbo and the 2.8L V6. Also available are the strong 270-hp 4.0L W8 (8-cylinder W-shape) engine and the economical 2.0L TDI turbo Diesel (on models from 2004). The Passat has disk brakes on all wheels. The ABS is standard; traction control (ASR) is available. Inside, the Passat offers distinctive European styling with plenty of room and high level of comfort. Fit and finish is very good and all interior materials have a quality look and feel. On the road, Volkswagen Passat has very comfortable ride and excellent handling. Even under hard acceleration, there is almost no torque steer, thanks to drivetrain layout and front suspension design. The 2.8L V6 engine is smooth and fairly quiet. The 1.8L-turbo is pretty quick once the turbo kicks in. In the NHTSA frontal crash tests, the 2000-2005 Volkswagen Passat received 5 stars for both the driver and the front passenger. For more details, visit Safercar.gov. In the frontal offset crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the 1998-2005 Passat received "Good" overall rating.

2006 VW Passat Variant 2.0 TDI Comfortline Full Review,Start Up, Engine, and In Depth Tour
For more in depth reviews check my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/avtomobil... Filmed by: Tomaž Kožar Jesenice All new, larger, more powerful. Does that sound like every new car intro these days? Yes, and the 2006 Volkswagen Passat is no different. Still, it's hard to fault the interior spaciousness plus a 4-cylinder, 2-liter engine that, with a turbocharger, produces 200 hp. And I, for one, approve of the styling, especially from the front. Prices start at $22,950 for the Value Edition with 6-speed manual, $24,025 for the optional 6-speed auto. Warranty 4-yrs, 50,000 mi./5 yrs, 60,000 mi. powertrain. First Glance: Right at home in the city of Boston Before discussing the 2006 Passat I'd like to offer my impressions of Boston, where this test was performed. Never having been, I learned a great deal about this lovely city. (What's that, Aaron? You want me to stick to the subject? Last time I tried that she got up and walked away.) (Ed. note: Maybe it was your aftershave? - Aaron) Actually the relationship between the Passat and Boston is not as obscure as it might seem. The city is about history, culture, education. The Passat is a marque with a history, a cultured appearance, and one that seems to have been developed by educated wills. It would be right at home in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology parking lot. I'm an admirer of the previous Passat where, I thought, VW got everything right. Now comes a Passat with a longer wheelbase, three more inches of length and width, a wider track, and 57% more torsional rigidity. (Chassis designers love that figure as it allows flexibility in suspension settings.) The interior design is fresh, power options impressive, driving more pleasureable than this tester, who still insists small is beautiful, anticipated. German engineering, I'm pleased to report, is alive and well in the new Passat. Continued below... In the Driver's Seat: Totally at ease 2.0T models are finished in brushed metal; 3.6 is trimmed in wood © Volkswagen of AmericaVolkswagen took pains in its presentation to make us journalists aware of the Passat's history, beginning with the Dasher and Quantum of the 70's and 80's. It was not wasted on me as I've driven them all and even owned an early 90's model. So when I settled into the driver's seat of the 2006 Passat, I felt right at home. Personal history being less important, I submit that you, too, will feel at ease in the new Passat. Although our test vehicle had most of the requisite bells and whistles, ergonomic design created a familiarity that will demand few search-and-rescue skills from an unfamiliar pilot, though the Value Edition insists its driver use a knurled wheel to set the seatback angle, which led to an amusing contretemps with co-driver Trevor Hoffman, who hates them vs. yours truly who loves them. He finally admitted that the wheels do allow precise settings, I confessed that my enthusiasm is based on early Porsches and BMWs.To describe the 2006 Passat's 2-liter turbocharged engine as impressive is an understatement. Rated at 200 hp plus 207 lb./ft. of torque at 1800 rpm, it hits 60 mph in 6.9 seconds with the 6-speed manual, 7.4 seconds with the 6-speed Tiptronic. Power delivery was instantaneous in the automatic version we drove; it even had a pleasant sound unlike most 4-cylinder engines. The fully-independent suspension (McPherson concept up front, multi-link in rear) provided safe, secure cornering but we noted that road rumble was very audible on poor surfaces. A VW engineer who joined us at dinner explained that the inevitable compromise between ride and roadholding was prejudiced towards the latter in order to maintain a German driving tradition. I wouldn't dispute his choice but some noise-sensitive North Americans may. Visibility is excellent, the steering wheel adjusts for height and reach, instrumentation is easily read excepting some digital figures. Passats always featured responsive steering and the new model, even with an electrically-assisted system, is no exception. That, plus 4-wheel ABS disc brakes with brake assist and standard electronic stabilisation system, combined to make this mid-size sedan a truly fun car to drive.

1966 Mercedes-Benz 250SE 4spd Start Up, Engine, and In Depth Tour
In this video I give a full in depth tour of a 1966 Mercedes Benz 250SE. It has a 2.5L L6 engine with a 4 spd manual transmission. I take viewers on a close look through the interior and exterior of this car while showing details, over viewing of features, and noting unique styling cues to the vehicle itself. I also show the engine and the details of it, start it up and see how it sounds under acceleration. A thorough tour/review of this car designed to give others a greater overall appreciation of the vehicle. Thanks to jrosa1282 for this additional info on the history of this great car! The 250SE was a new offering from M-B for 1966, and was the first of what was known as the "New Generation" body/chassis, also known as the W108. This car would later spawn the classic 280SE 4.5 and 300SEL 6.3 sedans. In '66, a new 250SE retailed for about $6,550. In comparison, a new Chevy Corvair started at around $2,140, and an Austin-Healey Sprite cost $1,995. So these Benzes were not cheap in the day. (Goose Creek Auto Werks) The 250 SE was first introduced in 1965 and was built through 1968. It has independent front and rear suspension with four wheel power assist disc brakes. The engine is a straight 6 cylinder 2.5 liter with overhead cam and fuel injection. Power output is 170 hp at 5,600 revolutions per minute. This vehicle has about 70k on a factory short block and valve job. This Auto is black on black and has an older restoration job. The front and rear windshield weather strips were replaced then as were all the door weather strips and window channel. The head liner was replaced wih a factory OE kit. The seats and woodwork need repair. Recent repairs include a new water pump, fuel gauge sending unit and OE trunk mat. The rear brake calipers have been rebuilt with new disc and pads, and new pads on the front brakes. This is a classic Mercedes Benz, in design and style.
