I decided to stick my head in for a look at Jamboree 2011 while on holidays in Queensland recently. Cool cars and hot women make this event a mandatory addition to everyone's event list.
There's a couple little editing glitches in the video, but it took so long to render and upload, I decided to let them be.
TOYTON - Unblown to Blown in Five Minutes
Okay, we sped the footage up a little but in all honesty Rob Godfrey went
from an unblown big block to an 8/71 combo in less than 20 minutes. For
those that don't know the car it is one of Australia's top Street Machines,
winning both Street Machine of the year and Summernats Grand Champion. with
the only naturally aspirated 632ci combo it made 1050rwhp and run eights on
the quarter. The new blown 502ci combo is more cruisable, but makes less
power. Looks bloody awesome though.
The girls appeared as soon as Rob fired the car up. Very cool.
Girls of Summernats 24
Something a bit different today, the lovely promo ladies of Summernats 24,
plus the Miss Summernats girls. All set to some awesome 70s porno/disco
The music is Stringed Disco by Kevin Macleod from: http://incompetech.com
13s For $1300 - Project Bluebird - Episode 17
We take Project Bluebird, our $1300 race car, to Heathcote Raceway again to
see how it goes on the quarter mile after the lastest round of tweaks. The
budget still stands at $1249 and with two bottles of Nitrous at the ready we're trying for a 12sec
pass. Will we make it? Watch and see.
Rod Hadfield's BeauTy
For those who don't know Rod, he's on of the most prolific Australian hod
rodder's of our time. He's built and owned more amazing cars than most of
us could dream of. Check out his highly modified '26 T-coupe. It's running
an Ardun headed flathead V8 and a host of cool gear found around the swap
Blown Nova Goes 6.39 on 10.5 tyres
Frank Mamone's blown Chevy Nova is a wicked looking beast and it's got
plenty of grunt to match. Lately he's been racing the Hemi powered Nova inn
the 10.5 class and with some success too. He won at Sydney Dragway recent
at the APSA Pro Street Shootout.
Engine Explosion - Let The Pistons Hit The Floor
Think of the song by Drowning Pool and you'll see where we're headed. Mike
Roycroft unleashes destruction on his Valiant sedan unlike anything we've
ever seen before. How big a hole does it have to be to fit a complete
piston out of it? That's pretty wild.
Ford Coupe Club of Australia Hardtop Nationals 2011
We take a look at the Ford Coupe Club of Australia Hardtop Nationals. For
those that don't know, these Australian built coupes/hardtops were built
from 1972 through to 1979 across the XA/XB/XC model ranges. The most famous
coupe is probably the Mad Max car used in the first two mad max movies, and
there's a replica of that car featuring in this video. There was also a
coupe that featured in Love The Beast - Eric Bana's ode to his own Falcon
Coupe which he has owned from way before he became famous.
Unfortunately I couldn't fit all the cars in the video but I squeezed a
fair few in, I hope you all enjoy it.
Music in the centre section comes from Kevin MacLeod at

Summer Skidfest at Heathcote Raceway
It's the last hit out for the year, and the last chance to check your rides
before Summernats, the Summer Skidfest was all about good time and having
fun. As the name suggests there were plenty of burnout but there was also
some powerskids, caravan racing, and the massive meltdown of the remains of
said caravan racing.
For the first time out it was a great little event and hopefully we'll see
it again next year.
SOLID Wins Gazzanats Blown Burnouts
It was a SOLID win from Danny Smith at Gazzanats with his blown small block
Chevy Pick-up. Check out the volume of smoke! It was huge and it had the
crowd screaming for more. With trucks like this it's a wonder we don't see
more pick-ups built as burnout machines.
R33 Skyline Punches A Rod Out at Gazzanats
There's no doubt that Skylines are decent performance cars but every car
has it's limits - as the owner of this R33 found out at Gazzanats. I've
never seen a nearly complete conrod leave an engine before, usually they're
broken in two.
13s for $1300 - Project Bluebird - Episode 12
To fix the lazy shifts we've made a few mods the wiring harness of our
Project Bluebird so we can get the trans shifting a little harder. It takes
less than $20 of parts, a few wires, and a soldering iron to get the job
done. Hopefully it works on the track.
FRYZEM Gets Fried at Gazzanats 2011
James North might need to rename his car FRYZME (Fries me) after this huge
fire at Gazzanats. The heat from the flames was ferocious, even with the
car so far away, but the awesome fire fighters standing trackside were on
the case quickly.
11,000rpm Burnout at UBC2
UPDATE - Talked to Harry about this video the other day. He confirmed that
the tacho recall read 11,200rpm and he also told me the engine didn't die,
it sheered the rollpin in the distributor and put the timing way out. which
is why it turned over but wouldn't fire properly. the engine did another 3
or 4 shows after this and even then it only needed bearing and valve
There's no mechanical sympathy here. Listen to this thing scream when Harry
Haig gets into it during the second annual Ultimate Burnout Challenge held
at Avalon Speedway. The engine sounds more like something you'd hear in a
pro-stock car than on the burnout track. It's no surprise that the engine
can't handle that kind of sustained rpms but it's still amazing to watch
and listen to.
Front End Explodes Across the Finish Line
Imagine the shock Greg had when the front end of his Nitrous assisted Falcon disintergrated when he
crossed the line at the recent Hardtop Nationals. But he didn't let that
stop him; he continued to race the car throughout the afternoon and made it
all the way to the final. Too Bad there was no prizemoney to buy a new
SPOT ON - Chassis Twisting 2JZ-Powered VL Wagon
This is Australia's quickest VL Wagon but it's not powered by a Nissan
3-litre like most other VL's, this one is sporting Toyota power with a
hopped-up 2JZ under the bonnet. It's no slouch either. On Saturday it ran a
PB of 9.8 before breaking the gearbox, they dropped another box in it and
turned up the wick with the car going 9.2 at 150mph by the end of the day.
It's still got the factory BW diff in it too.
