Stock McLaren 720S vs. Modified Corvette Z06 – Street Hits

May 19th, 2023

Things are heating up in the street (in Mexico) tonight, as we have a McLaren taking on a souped-up Corvette Z06. The worst night of street racing is better than the best night sitting on the couch. This one was made even better with the appearance of the unicorn-esque McLaren 720S. As intimidating as it is beautiful, the 720S seems to make the heart of any performance enthusiast beat faster. Have a closer look. This (nearly) stock McLaren 720S is a mid-engine, rear-wheel drive roadster. With a twin turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, the 720S can manufacture 710hp and accelerate from Read More

Palm Beach International Raceway Closed – Our Final Test and Tune?

April 29th, 2022

We head to Palm Beach International Raceway for the last test and tune before they closed the gates and shutdown. July 22nd, 2021

Summer is here and the time is right for racing in the streets! That ain’t the way the song goes but it sure makes for some interesting evenings. Let’s get down to Texas (Mexico) and see what all these McLarens are buzzing about. The first McLaren to take the interstate is rolling against a twin turbocharged Dodge Viper. That’s creating a ton of horsepower when you add twin turbos to an already potent 8.4-liter V10. The Viper gets the early advantage but can’t hold the McLaren off through the trap. McLaren FTW. Next, the TT Viper takes on a pair Read More

Just for kicks, Brenton is putting the McLaren up against a stock Jeep Trackhawk in a drag race (on a closed course). Supercar Street Hits – McLaren 720S vs 1000HP R32 GTR

May 12th, 2020

Lessons learned include the fact that anything wearing the McLaren nameplate is pretty difficult to get the jump on. Even if you have a ton more horsepower, it seems like anything in the McLaren lineup – with their above-average power-to-weight ratio – has the potential to jump out on you and take it to the stripe pretty hard. That being said, this primo (JDM) Nissan GTR ain’t conceding the victory. Not by a long shot. This is definitely not your run-of-the-mill Nissan GTR. The engine has been upgraded with a stroker kit that bumps it up (from a 2.6-liter) to Read More
