Street Drag – McLaren 720S vs. Jeep Trackhawk

August 11th, 2020

Today, we are taking a ride along with Forza Tuning and Performance founder and President Brenton Brown in a McLaren 720S. Brenton is an entrepreneur, a father and one of the leading performance gurus in the nation. Just for kicks, Brenton is putting the McLaren up against a stock Jeep Trackhawk in a drag race (on a closed course). Let’s see what he thinks about this British beauty and what it can do with the most powerful production SUV on the planet.

With the capacity to produce 710hp and 568 lb.-ft. of torque, the McLaren 720S is by any standard a supercar. A mid-engine rocket of an automobile, the 720S is equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 engine being force fed copious amounts of air by a pair of electronically actuated twin scroll turbochargers. At a curb weight of 2,828-pounds, the 720S can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in 2.9-seconds. It has a top speed of 212 mph.

The Jeep Trackhawk is the Hellcat of the SUV segment. With a supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI V8 the all-wheel drive Trackhawk can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5-seconds. The massive HEMI makes 707hp and 645 lb.-ft. of torque. It weighs 5,356-pounds and has a top speed of 200 mph. The Jeep can turn a quarter mile in 11.6-seconds at 116 mph.
