Sedan Showdown – Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S vs. Cadillac CTS-V

January 20th, 2018

While no battle of high-performance sedans can be exhaustive if it excludes the innovative (and quick) Tesla P90 SD, this contest pairs two of the most capable “grocery getters” on street or strip.

The first is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 S. Right outta the gate, you know that any entry bearing the famed AMG badge is outfitted to compete with every vehicle on the panet. This sedan is of the front-engine, all-wheel drive variety. It utilizes a 4.0-liter, DOHC, 32-valve, twin-turbocharged, V8 engine and a 9-speed automatic transmission. It is capable of producing 603hp (@ 5,750 rpm) and 627 lb.-ft. of torque (@ 2,500 rpm). The sticker price varies between  $105,395 – $145,160.

The 2017 Cadillac CTS-V is a front-engine, rear-wheel drive luxury sedan with a sticker price that ranges between $85,990 – $96,585. It is equipped with a 6.2-liter, supercharged, V8 engine that can make 640hp @ 6,400 RPM and 630 lb.-ft. of torque @ 3,600 RPM. Shifting duties are left to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Mercedes-Benz outweighs the Cadillac by about 400-pounds.

Professional driver Randy Pobst puts both these cars to the track test then the guys have drag and roll races. Check out the video for the full rundown.
