It sports the Stinger 609 name badge (6.09 cubic inches or almost 100 cc) and is the culmination of almost 30 years of knowledge gained in the designing and construction of model engines. The new Stinger possesses no parts used in prior V-8 engines. The bore is 1.00, with a .970 stroke. It weighs about 11.25 pounds and measures approximately 14" long (from the front timing belt to the end of the transmission), 6" wide, and 8-1/4" tall. The supercharged version will be about 10" tall. Among the numerous innovative features like large oval shaped intake ports, "D" shaped Exhaust ports, and investment cast parts, two bold attributes stand tall: the dry sump pressurized oiling system and a full ignition system. The engine even has a user replaceable oil filter. For those of you who lack familiarity with dry sump oiling, it simply means that oil resides in a holding tank, rather than a conventional oil pan, which circulates throughout the engine. The oil that does collect in the pan is simply pumped back to the holding tank. I have incorporated what is call a "three stage" oil pump to move all the oil. One stage is used to feed oil to the engine, whereas, the other two stages are used to remove all the accumulated oil from the pan. This is particularly important for high acceleration, cornering, or boat applications. An important side note, my test engine held about 20 lbs oil pressure at idle and 60 lbs oil pressure at 9,000 rpm. The dry sump oiling system not only adds more oil volume but aids in engine cooling and makes sure that there is plenty of oil during hard acceleration or sharp corners. The spark plugs have a 10-40 thread. As always, the new Stinger 609 V-8 will have an electric starter as standard equipment. No hand held electric motors here, or something that fits in a box below the engine, but rather a 12 volt electric motor that is an fundamental part of the engine. It can be activated manually or via the transmitter on your remote control. The centrifugal clutch is also included.

Purchased from This is a beautiful desktop version of a CO2 powered airplane V12 engine. This most probably the smallest V12 engine in the world. This engine is hand made in Europe. Size: 2 1/5 inches wide X 5 1/2 inches long X 4 1/2 inches high Assembled Ready-To-Run. Made in Europe Carbon dioxide motors have been around for a long time. They are expansion engines which work rather like a steam engine. The tank receives a charge of CO2 which is liquid at ambient temperature at a vapor pressure of about 850 psi. this boils in the tank to supply gas to the motor. In the Gasparin the inlet valve is a steel ball sealing under gas pressure in a nylon (delrin type) seat while the piston carries a central peg which lifts the valve as it approaches top dead center. Exhaust is through a ring of ports uncovered by the piston towards the bottom of the stroke. Gasparins spun alloy tanks, silver-soldered pipe work, connectors and the filler valves are all beautifully designed. The motors use a floating O ring to seal the piston, which works well. They also have a flexible joint between the gas supply pipe and the cylinder head. This seals in a silicon material and the feature is important because it allows the cylinder barrel to be screwed up and down on its threaded base in the crankcase. This allows adjustment of the valve timing and power output without disturbing the cylinder head gas seal.

Because of the large and heavy flywheel this motor also has a low RPM. The two cylinders mutually balance each other for a smooth operating engine. It is ealily started by turning the flywheel. The motor produces the typical Exhaust sound of V operated - motors. The movement and flow of the two cylinder is emphasized through the open design. The contrary parts, like the cross heads and valve poles form an interesting mechanical motion. Through the use of Propane or butane (lighter gas) as a fuel, only non toxic fumes are released and therefore this is an ideal "room motor". The open construction of the motor allows one insight on the mechanical workings. A comfortable sound is established through two long Exhaust pipes. This model motor is made of aluminum, brass and stainless steel. The engine runs on a 70% Butane 30% Propane mixture that can easily be purchased at a camping outdoors shop. This mixture allows the engine to run in the house with a window open. The spark plug is actuated by a piezo igniter.
