Goodwood Revival 2010, St Mary's Trophy, Race One
Race one of the St Mary's Trophy for saloon cars raced between 1950 and
1959. Martin Brundle was the highlight of the race for me, moving up from
4th place to challenge for the lead in his Austin A35 (car# 1), before
contact with the leader punctured a tyre and ultimately put him out of the
race. His efforts were more than appreciated by the crowd though! Tom
Kristensen took the victory in his first visit to the Revival (driving an
Austin A95 Westminster), after a good race with Patrick Watts (in the Volvo
Amazon 122S) was cut short by mechanical failure.

Cars from extinct British manufacturers
With Chrysler and Pontiac on their way out in the US, here's a reminder of
a few of the British car manufacturers that have gone out of business in
the last few decades.

Stamford Classic Car Rally 2010 plus my Dad's 1962 Wolseley 1500
My dad bought his Wolseley 1500 secondhand in the late '70's and for a
while it was used as the family car. It was garaged for some time, then in
the 1990's he completely dismantled it and restored it to its original
condition. Ever since, he has driven many miles in it attending classic car

Wolseley 1500 - Original Steel Wings, Simply Beautiful
What a perfect car for the Summer months ahead of us.
She really does turn heads.
Finished in classic English white with red leatherette interior. Very
classy. Very "English gentleman"
Only 4 owners since 1964! Amazing.
She Still has the original walnut wood inserts on each of the doors and
dashboard. All of the wood is clean and unmarked.
Absolutely everything works on her. Even the light at the end of the
indicator stalk flashes after all of these years.
Even the original flying "W" hood ornament is still here.
All of the windows go up and down fine, the doors shut flush, all of the
locks work properly, the original door lock covers on the front doors are
still on her, the boot mechanism is perfect, the bonnet stay is perfect,
wipers work, fans work, heater works, speakers work, lights work,
This car does not have fibreglass panels like all of the cheap and battered
ones. It has the original steel wings - a true sign of a well cared for
Original Wolseley polished hub-caps are still on the car and are clean.
The chrome is good-fair all over. It does not need re-chroming (unless you
intend on having it as a museum piece).
Original flying "W" hood ornament.
Original AA Badge, Wolseley 1500 boot badge, Wolseley grill badge,
Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club emblem.
The paint is in good order. Not perfect, but with a tiny amount of TLC this
car could be a show car.
No rot or rust. Only very minor blistering at close inspection.
No welding underneath.
Original Wolseley Keyring!
Original Wood on all 4 doors is perfect.
Original Dashboard is perfect.
Original Wolseley steering wheel wrapped in leather is in great shape.
Carpets are like brand new.
All of the door handles and locks work perfectly inside.
All of the windows wind up and down perfectly.
All of the dashboard switches work.
Roof lining is perfect.
Interior door felt covers/draft excluders are perfect.
Sills are good.
All of the guages work
A Voltmeter has been installed and works perfectly
An optimistic speedometer going up to 100mph works perfectly.
Original push-button start works perfectly.
A minor tear in the passenger seat, although I am going to get this
repaired for the next owner.
Starts first time every time.
No strange noises.
No strange smells.
All the electrics work.
Dynamo works 100% - Voltmeter fitted.
Gears are perfect.
Clutch pedal is about 65% up to biting point.
Clutch doesn't slip.
All Gears engage, pull and hold fine.
Brakes are good.
Tyres are good.
The only recent problem is that the car has been stood and as a result the
battery didn't have enough to start the car. So in my great wisdom I tried
to Boost it off cables with a 2011
Range Rover 4.4 TDV8 but I think the extra voltage gave the 47 year old
fuse box a heart attack. It'll be an easy fix for someone that knows what
they are looking at. I am the least mechanical-type person you will ever
encounter. It's probably a 50p fuse that has gone somewhere. I have added a
link with a video showing the car running etc though for peace of mind.
Also it shows around the car, in the boot, engine bay etc. so you can have
a good look at her. Bearing this in mind you will need to trailer/tow her
away unless you know what the problem is and you can get her started here
(you are welcome to use my tools, garage etc as I am that confident you
will not find anything sinister)
Sat Nav, Power steering, Electric heated seats, Cruise control, Bluetooth,
Electric windows. She has none of them ;-) But what you do get instead is a
BRITISH Motoring Icon that will make you smile every time you look at her
and remember just how good we could build cars back then.
If you want a project car then this is not the car for you.
Cars like this are hard to find. She will be a suond investment for the
£1,995 reduced to sell
