Visit http://www.miautotimes.com for complete details on this comparison. MI Auto Times Fuels Competition with "May the Best Truck Win" One winner will be selected as the "MI Auto Times Best Truck." To ensure a fair comparison, Readers who disagree with the MI Auto Times decision are welcome to comment and voice their opinions. The second round of the MI Auto Times Competition May the Best Truck Win features the Dodge Ram 1500 SLT takes on the Toyota Tundra Regular Cab. DETROIT, M.I. -- MI Auto Times selected two more popular trucks for the second round of the "May the Best Truck Win" competition, this time the Dodge Ram 1500 SLT and the Toyota Tundra Regular Cab. The first round of competition featured the GMC Sierra SLE overtaking the Ford F150. The editors at MI Auto Times worked many tireless nights to see that an objective winner between the two trucks was selected in the first round, and the second round of competition was no cakewalk. The MI Auto Times May the Best Truck Win Competition rates trucks based on a set of categories, and awards stars based on each truck's specifications provided by each truck's automaker. The categories are value, power, comfort, and factory warranty. The highest possible rating in each category is four stars. The value category assigns a star rating based on the national promotions offered and estimated cost of ownership. The power category awards stars based on payload, towing, horsepower, engine size, and torque. The comfort category judges by looking at the truck's interior, safety equipment and integrated, user-friendly technology and entertainment features. The final category, factory warranty, assesses how automakers back their trucks. In the power category both the Dodge Ram Mi and the Toyota Tundra Detroit earned 3 ½ stars, making it a tie. With its 4.7-liter V8 engine, the Dodge Ram Michigan has more displacement capacity and therefore more power to its engine than the 4.6-liter V8 of the Toyota Tundra. Both vehicles kick out the same amount of horsepower at 310, but the Dodge Ram MI has more torque than the Toyota Tundra Michigan At these model levels, the Toyota Tundra was the champion tower with a towing capacity of 7,500 and also had a larger payload capacity of 1,795. The Dodge Ram MI had a 6,650 towing capacity and 1,340 payload capacity, which comes out to 850 pounds less towing ability and 455 pounds shy of beating the Toyota Tundra Michigan. In the value category the Toyota Tundra's earned 3 ½ stars against the Dodge Ram's 3 stars. Though there are no national offers currently listed for the Toyota Tundra, even with the Dodge Ram's GMAC bonus cash of $1,000 on all Ram 1500 models still puts it at $100 higher than the Toyota Tundra Detroit. Also, the Toyota Tundra lists a better miles-per-gallon rating of 15 city/20 highway against the Dodge Ram's 14 city/19 highway. That equates to 17 combined mpg for the Toyota Tundra versus 15 combined mpg for the Dodge Ram MI. Furthermore, estimated annual fuel cost of the Toyota Tundra Michigan is $323 less than the Dodge Ram. In the comfort category the Dodge Ram earned 4 stars against the Toyota Tundra's 3 stars. The Dodge Ram has more standard comfort features than the Toyota Tundra Detroit and they include: power door looks, power mirrors, power windows, power sliding rear window, cruise control and heated mirrors. Both have standard MP3 capability but only the Dodge Ram offers one year of SIRIUS satellite radio service for free; the Toyota Tundra requires a monthly fee for satellite radio and $449 cost3. In the warranty category the Dodge Ram earned 3 ½ stars against the Toyota Tundra's 3 stars. The Dodge Ram is now backing its trucks with a new 5-year/100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty, plus a 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty which provides bumper-to-bumper coverage from the body to the electric system. The Toyota Tundra MI also shares a 3-year/36,000-mile basic limited warranty but only has a 60-month/60,000 mile Powertrain warranty. Corrosion coverage on the Toyota Tundra is for unlimited miles but ends after 60 months compared to the Dodge Ram Michigan, which has corrosion coverage for 5 years/100,000 miles. The second round winner is: Dodge Ram 1500 SLT, The most awarded Ram truck ever. **Details compiled by visiting automotive manufacturer websites and viewing specifications for each model. GMC Sierra MI vs. Dodge Ram MI Comparison by MIAutoTimes.com Final Round
visit MI Auto Times at http://www.miautotimes.com GMC Sierra MI Auto Times Competition Champion GMC Sierra MI owners will be saying "Better luck next year," to the Dodge Ram once they read the latest results of the final round of the May the Best Truck Win MI Auto Times competition. DETROIT, M.I. -- GMC Sierra MI owners have reason to celebrate. The GMC Sierra, the MI Auto Times first round comparison winner in the MI Auto Times May the Best Truck Win competition, squared off against the second round winner the Dodge Ram. It was a tough final round between two rugged trucks, but only one can drive away as the winner.** In this case, that honor went to the GMC Sierra 1500 SLE. The Dodge Ram 1500 SLT, better luck next time. In the value category, the GMC Sierra earned 4 stars against the Dodge Ram's 3 ½ stars. When the national incentives are applied to each respective truck's MSRP, the GMC Sierra MI truck buyers will spend $2,410 less than the Dodge Ram, even though the Dodge Ram started out with a lower MSRP.1 Both the GMC Sierra and the Dodge Ram get 14 city/19 highway mpg, and both are flex fuel compatible, but customers can only find a hybrid version under the GMC nameplate. The GMC Sierra also has the capability to save drivers money over the long-term because of its included On-Star vehicle diagnostics which MI Auto Times discusses On-Star more in the Comfort category. Earning 4 stars against the Dodge Ram's 3 ½ stars, the GMC Sierra wins the power category. The Dodge Ram proved a strong competitor in horsepower and torque as it defeated the GMC Sierra in both outputs, but the GMC Sierra MI owners will have 161 more pounds payload capacity and 550 more pounds towing capacity. Also, the GMC Sierra heavy-duty packages make it a better choice for heavy duty towing or maximizing trailering ability. The GMC Sierra packages offer equipment such as trailering hitch platform, wiring harness for aftermarket trailer brake controller, heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential and external transmission oil cooler. The GMC Sierra also offers a package for drivers in cold climates wanting to modify their truck for plowing snow. The GMC Sierra earned 3 ½ stars, a quarter of a star advantage over the Dodge Ram's 3 ¼ star rating in the comfort category. The GMC Sierra has more standard and available features that the Dodge Ram. The GMC Sierra has rubber floor mats, premium cloth seats, sunroof, illuminated vanity mirror, and leather wrapped steering wheel. Both trucks have rear assist and parking assist systems; however, when it comes to total care safety technology systems, MI Auto Times rates the one-year subscription to On-Star higher than the Dodge Ram's Uconnect system, which costs $395. The GMC Sierra earned 4 stars against the Dodge Ram's 3 ½ stars. The Dodge Ram was a very strong competitor in this category thanks to the new 5-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty offered on the Dodge Ram, which is equivalent to the GMC Sierra's 100,00 mile/5-year transferable Powertrain Limited Warranty. Both trucks also offer a basic 3-year/36,000 mile warranty, but the GMC Sierra offers more support for its customers than the Dodge Ram because the GMC Sierra has 100,000 mile/5-year 24/7 Roadside Assistance plus 100,000 mile/5-year courtesy transportation. Though the Dodge Ram put up a good fight, in the end there can only be one MI Auto Times Best Truck: The GMC Sierra 1500 SLE, never send a truck to do a Sierra's job. Got a hot tip? 2013 Toyota Tundra takes on Ford, Chevy & the Ike Gauntlet Mashup Towing Test ( Episode 1 )
( http://www.TFLtruck.com ) The 2013 Toyota Tundra Pickup is built to tow. But is it better than the Ford F-150 and the brand new Chevy Silverado? We decided to find out by putting all three pickups up against each other in a Mega Mashup by having them tow the old Lincoln Continental Mark V Diamond in the Rough up one of the steepest and highest American Highways. From Dillion, Colorado to the Eisenhower Tunnel U.S. I-70 climbs 8 miles to a maximum elevation of 11,158 feet or 3,401 meters. That's enough elevation and grade to test the most powerful of pickups. Is the Toyota Tundra up to the task of towing a over 7,000 pounds up to the top of the tunnel? In fact according to Toyota this pickup can tow up to 9,000 pounds. That's enough weight to need a commercial truckers license in most states. In this first TFLtruck Ike Gauntlet video review we test the truck up the Ike Gauntlet see how fast it will tow over 7,000 pounds of old American Luxury car 8 miles up a 7 percent grade to the Eisenhower tunnel with the help of our friend Kent from ( http://www.MrTruck.com ).
