AMS Alpha Omega GT-R Top Speed Record: 233mph "Drift"!!!

After smashing the GT-R 1/4 mile record at the TX2K12 with an 8.62@173.81mph pass, the Alpha Omega GT-R went straight to the Texas Mile in an attempt to reset the GT-R top speed record of 218mph. FRIDAY The morning was spent preparing the Alpha Omega for tech inspection. A 1/2 mile shakedown pass was performed early afternoon. With much more power than what we had worked with last October, the Alpha Omega was literally flying down the track. Nonetheless, Ivan Phipps, the projects technician and driver for the Alpha Omega kept at it - pulling a 221mph top speed late Friday afternoon which was enough to claim the record! SATURDAY With the absence of wind Saturday morning, the decision was made to press on. The Alpha Omega only used approximately 1050whp of its available 1600whp on Friday's record pass. With approximately 1250whp dialed in, the crew wanted to see if the car could at least break the 230mph barrier before heading home for the weekend. On Saturday's one and only pass down the Mile, Ivan was able to get the Omega to the 1/2 mile marker with a speed of 197mph. The car ran loose with stock aero and absence of a rear wing, but the throttle remained pegged to the floor. Ivan passed the 1 mile marker at 233.1mph. It was a new record for the R35 GT-R, but not without a hitch. The Omega hit a dip in the runway past the mile marker which caused it to bounce. Combined with the effect of the parachute, the force was enough to lift the rear wheels of the Omega off the ground. When the car rebounded, it lost control, sliding more than 90 degrees sideways. We plan to continue testing the limits of the GT-R platform with improved aero and a final drive gear. To follow the Alpha Omega GT-R project, join us at Alpha GT-R or AMS Performance on Facebook. Special thanks to our sponsors: ADV1, Dodson Motorsport, Driveshaft Shop, Exedy, Nissan Motorsports, and Shepherd Transmission. Song Artist (title): PG. Lost ("Vultures")

Koenigsegg Agera R - 402km/h EPIC Fly By on the Nurburgring!
Like on Facebook: http://on.fb.me/Gumbal Last couple of days I visited the Gran Turismo Events on the Nurburgring. Koenigsegg Norway also enjoyed this great event with their Official Test Car 7031 Streetfighter and the World Record Car Agera R. When the awesome 1115 HP Koenigsegg Agera R passed the pit lane on Döttinger Höhe on Thursday everyone was amazed by the speed of the car. Using the whole 3.5 kilometer straight, the Koenigsegg logged a "quite impressive" 401.6 km/h before braking before the bridge at Tiergarten. The Agera R has a normal Koenigsegg road setup, was driven on 98 oktan fuel and on standard Michelin Pilot tires. AMS Alpha Omega: World's First 7 Second R35 GT-R!
After a successful night on July 11, 2013 running an 8.25 @ 185mph, we had broken the R35 world record by .35 seconds and 5mph but we still wanted more. Our night was cut short as a Mustang flipped end over end that knocked out a power transformer cutting all power to the track ending the night early. Thankfully the driver walked away from this terrifying crash and is set to make a full recovery. On Friday, we all had one thing on our mind; what would have happened had we been able to make that third pass? Speculating turned into preparing to head to the track on Saturday. Great Lakes Dragaway had the MOFOCO Bugfest and bracket racing scheduled but was allowing some test and tune in between. It was going to be extremely busy at the track but our eagerness to try for a 7 second pass got the best of us. As we drove into the pits on Saturday afternoon, the facility was packed. Everything from air cooled VW's to bracket racing rail cars. The Density Altitude was far from favorable at 2,129ft, it was humid and the temperature was in the low 80's but that was the last thing on our minds. After a long wait in the staging lanes Ivan Phipps, driver and head technician behind Omega, was next to make a run. He pulled onto the track and did a short dry hop to clean the tires, crept in and lit the beams. Launching hard with the perfect amount of spin Ivan was off! As Omega hit second gear the car jerked towards the center of the track, but he was determined to stay in it. By the time he hit third gear the car was back on track and pulling hard. We were silent from that moment until the board lit up "7.984 @ 186.14mph." We went wild! But it wasn't just us going crazy, it was the whole crowd and the announcer who exclaimed "Welcome to the seven second club!" The highlight of the day was Ivan driving down the return lane not having any idea how fast he had gone. "I knew it was a pretty good pass, but not sure how good" Ivan said. We all lined up near the time slip booth to congratulate him and it wasn't until Ivan made a hand gesture in the form of a '7' as he rolled up and Eric Gaudi (AMS sales manager) confirming with a nod that Ivan realized he had done it. We had accomplished our goal to run the first 7 second pass in an R35 GT-R! In addition to this milestone achievement, Alpha Omega also posted some insane numbers and set some other records which were recorded by the onboard V-Box data recorder: 0-60: 1.72 seconds 60-130mph: 2.67 seconds (new overall record) 0-300kph (186mph): 7.98 seconds (new overall record) 100-150mph: 2.42 seconds (new overall record) 30-130mph: 3.63 seconds What we are most proud about is Alpha Omega is still a street-legal, road going car. It can be driven anywhere. What's even more impressive is Chris Black, the evil genius behind the tuning of Omega has still not unleashed its full potential. Omega is the test bed for our GT-R line and uses mostly off the shelf Alpha components. We will be releasing details on the improvements to the car soon now that we've proven their capabilities. These include: Alpha Drag Suspension Alpha Upgraded CCM Brakes Alpha Drag Wheel and Tire Package We look forward to seeing other GT-R owners getting much quicker with these new products. We are excited to attempt an even deeper pass into the 7's in the future but for now it is time to celebrate the hard work the whole team put in to this accomplishment!
