1967 Chevy 283 fired up
Firing up my 1967 Chevy 283 I restored. It took me July 21, 2012- October 11, 2012. Everything was original before I started working on it. I changed the Camshaft to a performance Camshaft, Piston rings, Hydraulic lifters, and the Connecting Rod bearings. For now i'm using the original main bearings. I Honed the cylinders. This video was taken at my high school's automotive program's garage and with some help from my automotive instructor we finally got the baby running. This 283 came out of a 1967 Chevy Impala. The past owner took very good care of it and the was no engine sludge while taking it apart.

Starting an old 283 chevy engine part 1
My son rebuilt this engine in highschool about 15 years ago. We put this in a 67 chev pickup and ran it till the truck rusted away. I junked the truck out and saved the engine. It was sitting in my shed in my way for about 5 years now so I decided to set it outside. So I'm starting it up before I tarp it up for now. Its got about 35,000 miles on it since the rebuild. It has a some what of a high lift cam in, but I don't remember what he put in it.
