Chevy S10 Electric motor running on 12V

Advanced DC 9" motor in Chevy S10, running test on one 12V battery. Insurance company says they'll insure the truck as any other car would be! The final price of the trucks conversion required a line of credit on the house mortgage, went with $9000 worth of lithium batteries. Way better than the lead acid ones at a third of the weight, and last alot longer, four years so far (as of Apr 2013)

Andy's Muddy Hole (no homo)
If you like the video, Please go back and click on one of the ads, Thanks! My buddy Andy gets his '08 Dodge Powerwagon un-stuck from a clay-filled mud-hole. Ford used as an anchor-point for the Powerwagon's built in winch. He is Feathering the throttle, NOT BOUNCING OFF THE LIMITER, so don't post dumb comments about his motor blowing up or "engine damage" because they will be deleted!

Behind the scenes of building an electric car - The journey
Follow us on a journey of the successes and dissapointments that were tse_10. Team Swinburne Electric 2010, AKA tse_10, was the first year a group of Swinburne engineering students endevoured to develop and build an Electric Vehicle for the Formula SAE competition. The team hit trouble when they blew up their motor controller, just over a week before the competition. The team then borrowed another motor controller which also ended up blowing. The team then borrowed ANOTHER motor controller, to which they had some success, until the night before the competition, when it also blew up. In total the team blew up 3x $4,000 controllers, 6 times (after repairs). It is thought that the motor is faulty and is causing the issues. Electric VW Experiment - home made motor control
This was my first attempt at becoming free of the ever rising cost of gas. It worked, but I could never get more than a trip to town and back on a single charge. The motor I used and my crude controller were not efficient enough. I discovered veggie oil and bought a diesel car, so this one is just sitting for now. It was a fun project, and with a 40 horse motor, I could take off REALLY fast!
