Legendary Youngtimer W 123
A child of the 70s and a cult car of the 80s - both labels apply to the W
123. Beside the spirit of the times the W 123 carried many technical
innovations and safteyfeatures. A modern body in trendy colors, that's the
W 123 that we all know. In the early 70s, the model series 123 was already
in development. The developers paid particular attention to comfort,
convenience and safety. Countless kilometers of test drives along with new
test methods made sure that everything on the W 123 was of the highest
quality, right down to the smallest detail.

2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6X6 vs 2014 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG! Head 2 Head Ep. 46
On this episode of Head 2 Head, Jonny Lieberman heads to Graz, Austria, the
home of one of the world's toughest off roaders - the Mercedes-Benz
G-Wagen. The last time a G63 appeared on Head 2 Head, it beat out the
all-new and quite excellent Range Rover Supercharged. This time, however,
the G63 faces even stiffer competition — another G63. Of course, this
particular G has an extra axle, because it's the $500,000+ G63 AMG 6x6!
Costing roughly twice as much as the awesome twin-turbo V-12 powered G65, the 6x6 is the ultimate
expression of the Gelandewagen... on paper. But is it actually any good? Is
the 6x6 as awesome as it looks, or is the regular G-Wagen just too well
thought out? And why is the 6-wheeled truck always jumping in the air like
that? Watch and find out!
Head 2 Head appears every other Wednesday on the Motor Trend channel.

New Mercedes S-Class vs Audi A8 vs Range Rover - Auto Express
Mercedes S-Class vs Audi A8 vs Range Rover full review:

Ever since the first Mercedes S-Class arrived in 1972 it has dominated the
Luxury car sector -- until the excellent Range Rover came along recently.
So can this new one regain its crown?
The Range Rover sets the benchmark for the Mercedes to beat. And starting
at around £70,000, this TDV6 Vogue is our pick of the range. By comparison
the long wheelbase A8 3.0-litre TDI SE seems a bit of a bargain. At less
than £64,000 it's the least expensive car here.
The Mercedes S350 L SE costs two thousand pounds more than the Audi, but
the S-Class is undoubtedly the most luxurious. The Range Rover comes and
impressive second though, with the A8 third.
The S-Class is offered with range of seating options. This one has the
£4000 Executive Seat package but can pay even more to make them recline up
to 43.5 degrees -- that's more than in any other car.
The Audi doesn't have such versatile seats but in the back it's no less
spacious than the Mercedes. It may be big on the outside but the Range
Rover has 80mm less rear legroom than the two Germans.
Bearing in mind that these cars are comfy cruisers, the Mercedes is the
best to drive, followed by the Range Rover and finally the Audi -- on
account of its sporty edge.
Both the Audi A8 and the Range Rover are gadget-laden. You can get posh
stereos, high tech screens, surround cameras and huge sunroofs in those
cars, but being the newest the Mercedes has an advantage. It gets the
latest displays, most advanced nigh vision system and even hot stone
So the S-Class leads the field for technology as well as being the most
luxurious plus the best to drive and to be driven in. But there's just one
last thing we need to consider.
The S-Class's boot capacity is a respectable 510-litres, which is the same
as the Audi A8. However, the Range Rover has a 909-litre capacity and, with
the seats folded, can swallow 2,030 litres.
That means the Range Rover is the most practical and overall it's a better
luxury car than the Audi A8. The thing is though, the Mercedes S-Class is

The Mercedes-Benz W126 is a series of flagship vehicles manufactured by
German automotive marque Mercedes-Benz. Premiering in September 1979 as the
successor to the earlier W116 line, the W126 was the second generation of
the Mercedes-Benz flagship to officially bear the S-Class name referring to
Sonderklasse or "special class." The W126 was initially offered in
straight-6, V8, and turbo diesel sedan
models. In September 1981, 2-door coupé versions of the W126 were
introduced. Compared to its predecessor, the W126 was more aerodynamic,
fuel efficient, capacious, and powerfully engined. The W126 S-Class debuted
a new Mercedes-Benz design style which was subsequently used on other
vehicles in the company's lineup. The W126 line also introduced many
Mercedes-Benz safety innovations, including the first airbag supplemental
restraint systems, seatbelt pretensioners, and traction control.
The W126 had a twelve-year production run between 1979 and 1991, the
longest of any S-Class generation since the flagship models were first
built in the mid-1950s
AMG offered body kits for all W126 models, as well as a widebody kit for
the coupé. AMG also offered many levels of engine tuning, but was most
famous for the DOHC 6.0 litre engine, based on the original 117.968 engine.
Also offered was a Gleason Torsen differential in varying ratios, manual
transmission (extremely rare), and various TV/radio consoles.
Brabus Offered body kits similar to the AMG package and engine tuning.
Lorinser Offered body kits similar to the AMG package and minor engine
Koenig Specials offered a famous widebody kit, a Supercharger, and twin-turbo kits.
MKB offered various engine kits
RennTech offered most of the AMG engine tuning packages except for the
Carat-body kits, wooden seatback trays, wood trim, AMG installer/dealer.
Transco Bremen offered a stretch limousine version called the "1000 SEL".[
The 500 SEL has an interesting place in U.S. automotive history, since
American demand for this particular car drove the establishment of a large
grey market. The detuned, yet very expensive US specification 380
SE/SEL/SEC was underpowered, according to contemporary reports, and fuelled
demand for the more powerful version available in the rest of the world.
Approximately 22,000 units per year of grey market Mercedes-Benz (including
the 500 SE/SEL) were sold in the early 1980s, according to contemporary
reports in the Los Angeles Times.
The W126 S-Class, the most successful production S-Class in history, has
secured a place as one of the most well-remembered luxury
vehicles--described by some as a "classic." Its twelve-year production
run was longer than any S-Class before or since, and following the debut of
the W140 S-Class in 1991, the additional two years of production in South
Africa was a testament to the W126's popularity in the export market.
Although an expensive car to maintain, mostly due to the increased expense
of Mercedes-Benz replacement parts, a late model W126, if properly driven,
can still be a viable proposition today. Many W126s have been prominently
featured in films long after production ended.
This legacy stands in contrast with the W140 chassis which had very complex
accessory systems, particularly the W140 HVAC system, electrical wiring
(due to the push to manufacture environmentally friendly plastics), and
auto-door closing features. Among actual owners, W126s are known for their
simple maintenance, straightforward problems diagnosis, and long term
