240Z L28/3.0 LITER F/GT - FIRST START - GOPR0098
Blind faith and the need for speed. 1973 Datsun 240 Z, HLS30150666 with Rebello Racing 3 liter engine. 2988cc's with 15.22:1 compression ratio, Honda rods, .620" lift, Extrudabody 48mm ITB fuel injection, Stahl 1.75", 6 -2 header and Adaptronic engine management. Dyno tuned it makes 379hp@8200 rpm with stock oil pan. Have since install an Arizona Z Car 6 quart pan with windage tray; a Teflon Ishihara-Johnson Crank Scraper will also be installed. A more detailed video of the end product, a 30+ year project, is on the way. And then, Speed Week 2014 - Grand Touring under three liter.... Sounded awesome, a/f was good, putting out just 10+ hp over stock l28, and 15+ torque over stock curve. Stock l28 motor with MSD ignition. Perhaps another run with more advanced ignition timing in the future?

First start up of Frankenstein L28 with triple Mikuni's
This is a second hand rebuilt L28 engine I picked up. It that has 2mm oversize flat top Toyota pistons (hence "Frankenstein"), 74 deg cam, re-curved mech advance electronic dizzy, extractors with 2.5" Exhaust and triple Mikuni carbies on a Cannon manifold. This is the first start up of it once installed and the tuning is up the shit, but at least it ran. The smoke is from the Exhaust paint curing and is no big deal, looks bad but that is normal for the paint to bake on. Stay tuned for more video's once its finished and running properly.

Specs of my PMC assembled L28 (now L30) race motor- * F54 block, race prepped * P90 head, PMC porting * Brand new 44PHH Mikuni carb's (Ø40mm choke) * JE domed forged Ø89mm pistons * Spool forged rods, 140mm long * TWM inlet manifold and cold air intake * ATI harmonic balancer * Wade cam. PMC spec, 76° 0.59 lift * Race prepped crank * Recurved and mechanised Dizzy * High volume oil pump * ARP everything * Stewart Wilkins adjustable cam gear, valve springs and high sided retainers * AEM O2 wideband * Lurchos baffled and winged sump * NC block girdle * Genie extractors/headers with 2.5" Exhaust There maybe more, but can't think of it right now. Now keep in mind, this is not finished!





600+hp Datsun dyno session
series of Dyno pulls, with a best of 607 hp This was the first Dyno session where my car exceeded 600hp to the wheels. The runs were performed at Motor City Motorsports in Riverview, MI on a Dynojet 248C (yes it was calibrated properly). The backfires at the end of some of the pulls were just from the rev limiter's 8000rpm fuel cut - this introduces unburned oxygen into the Exhaust and burns any previously unburned fuel from the rich mixture prior to hitting the fuel cut. The engine is a stroked Nissan L-series, 3.0 litres with Diamond custom forged pistons and Cunningham rods. the head is an N42 with a fair amount of port and combustion chamber work,- ceramic coatings on the pistons, chambers and ports. Also has a custom cam grind from Elgin. The turbo is a GT42R with a 1.15AR hot side and a 4" Exhaust that exits through twin 3" oval pipes on either side in fron of the rear wheels. Fuel injection is a Electromotive TEC3r, and I did all of the tuning myself. BTW i have an update video with the 3.1L installed. Just search "240z 3.1L Stroker (Beta Build)" I put down a max of 130.5rwhp and torque at about 135ish. L24 tripple 44s Exhaust.

Datsun 280Z - 3.1L Stroker - First drive with new jets
Well, this is the first drive with the new jets in. The progression circuit was causing trouble before. My idle jets were too small causing the progression circuit to lean out. Remember: Just because it's CALLED an idle jet doesn't mean it only controls idle. The other thing is that the idle mixture screws don't affect the progression circuit, so if your idle jets are too small, there is no getting around buying new ones. Now it runs rich, though from here I have a ballpark to start tuning. It's presently got 135 mains, 185 air correction, 60F9 idle jets.
