1964 Plymouth Sport Fury # 5838 For Sale at Gateway Classic Cars in St. Louis
For sale is a 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury that will immediately turn you into a nostalgic Mopar fan! This car screams of 1960s muscle car power and as you stand next to the car you feel the presence of a time machine. A lower-body restyle followed for the 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury, along with a more conventional dash, and, for hard tops, a distinctive new roofline with vee'd rear pillars and "bubble" backlight. The big mechanical news was a first-time four-on-the-floor option, available with any V-8. Popular Mechanics also noted that a 2.5-inch wider rear track "makes for less roll and better handling when taking the curves on a rough road." Testifying to the inherent goodness of its 1964s, Plymouth swept that year's Daytona 500 1-2-3, helped by a Hemi V-8 newly revived for competition only. Under the hood of this Sport Fury you will find a stout 440 wedge big block engine and a manual 4-spd (A833) transmission. The 440 engine has "Max Wedge" Exhaust manifolds that are actual, period correct and they look like they mean business! The rear end is comprised of an 8 3/4 with 3.23 posi gears. The exterior of the car is bright Rubie Red with fresh chrome. The interior looks wonderful in black vinyl. The interior is all new from Legendary Interiors. The car was restored in 2003 and was taken all the way down to fresh metal. Since then the Mopar has been cared for under the roof of a garage. The steering wheel was restored, windshield replaced, and new Good Year Eagle GT II tires were added. This is a car that will get you to where you need to go in a timely, fashionable style and a lot of people will see you coming! To view the Plymouth in greater detail, including an HD video, please visit www.gatewayclassiccars.com or our St. Louis showroom. For more information please call 618-271-3000. 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury- #0043 NDY - Gateway Classic Cars Indiananpolis
1963 Plymouth Sport Fury for sale in our Indianapolis Showroom. The Max Wedge engine was introduced in 1962 in response to the Ford 352, Chevrolet big blocks as well as the Pontiac 409 with tri-power set-ups. These radical powerhouse engines were truly designed specifically for racing. As a result the Max Wedge was an instant success on the NHRA circuit. The fact that you could order the Sport Fury race ready from the factory make this monster Plymouth one of the most collectable cars of all time. This '63 Sport Fury is powered by the historic 426 cubic inch Max Wedge Super Stock motor, backed by period correct push button 727 automatic transmission running to a Dana 60 rear end and 456 gears. This factory setup produced an impressive 425 HP and 480 ft.lbs. of torque! The 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury is offered for sale with only 5.4 miles since the rotisserie restoration. Options on this 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury for sale include: radio delete, heater delete, wiper delete, rear seat delete, vinyl a100 front van seats, seat belts, racing wheels and bias ply tires. As part of the rotisserie restoration front and rear fiberglass bumpers were installed. The instrument cluster and gauges were rebuilt, screen printed and calibrated. A new dash pad was installed along with new gauge bezels. Stewart Warner greenline gauges were also installed. The paint and interior were professionally completed at the highest levels. This 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury is one of the best examples that you will find anywhere in the country. The owner states that the car had only 13000 original miles when the rotisserie restoration began(most of which were racked up on the drag strip). This Sport Fury was built for the track and was originally purchased in Missouri in 1963 and transported to Colorado where it was Raced until rediscovered and restored. The 1963 Plymouth Sport Fury with the Max Wedge 426 is a must have for serious collectors. Equally at home in the Museum or the Drag Strip, this classic will not disappoint.
